Not always true. Luka is the worst defender I have ever seen. He plays a lot. Harden too.
It might not be common but if you are good enough offensively then you can be a horrible defender and play a ton.

I mean the issue is that you have to be just elite offensively to make up for terrible defense.

The path for Filipowski to become a starting NBA PF is to show he can competently defend at PF. Hopefully he gets there.

I mean, he's going to fail at that and hard. If you want to develop confidence as a shooter you need to start with shots that are somewhat in your wheelhouse.

In most cases I would agree with you, but Collier is so far away as a shooter he needs to limit himself to low volume high quality attempts.

He definitely isn't just "starting" with any one kind of shot right now. lol. He's fully immersed in a long process of improvement on many different kinds of shots.

I just don’t believe his offense will ever get to that level of elite where it counteracts how bad he is defensively. I think he can be a very good player but I don’t think he will ever be a starter on a contender as he will get played off of the court in the playoffs

I like him at the four more than the five. He’s not slow footed, he just doesn’t have much of a wing span or exceptional hops. It’s not like he doesn’t make an effort on D. Certainly not near as bad as Luka in that regard. No rim protector.
