Rudy Gobert on Twitter: People care more about attention than about winning nowadays...

How have you been PG_AB?

Never been better, my Don Quixote T-Shirt came in the mail today.

I've accomplished the final stage of my work related plans on time, so now I'm preparing to set out on a journey to help those in need. Trying to pinpoint a noble cause to champion first, there's quite a bit of work to be done. The Pencils for Promise dude Adam Braun and his TEDtalks really got me inspired.

I tried posting on a new team forum, that was kinda dead anyways, but have already called it quits. Believe it or not they had more rules than this one, and I'd say the mods are even snarkier and holier than thou! There's 2 boards for that team though so I'm gonna try the other one before I'll head off to reddit.

Glad to see DX got acquired by ESPN, that was long overdue. That should reduce the echo chamber effect seen in the potential draftee's thread, unless members pony up $$$ for insider.

Rudy's right. I'd contend this behavior is reflected here on Jazzfanz;

How many long drawn out arguments was I right about??

How many correct predictions, in the face of droves of naysayers, did I log???

You'd figure I'd be the peoples ****ing champ here if it was all about winning, but it's quite the opposite.

Maya Angelou said it best;

Lets be real, I've been victimized by this phenomena here. I was making half-court heaves at the rate you'd expect to see from the FT line and still I'm a hated figure on this board because I didn't go about it in a way that garnered positive attention, because I didn't butter ya up the right way, while others who did and staunchly defended now completely obsolete points, get a pass. This is the way of the world, luckily for me this type of behavior is rampant and easily capitalized on, I wouldn't want it any other way.

it's just staggering the sense of your own importance that you carry

Well said. This has "I don't care what others think of me" written all over it.

Angelou's solid but I think I've said it better.

**** off.

I really enjoy watching Gobert, but why is he acting like a teenager constantly throwing shades at other players

In a way, it is a weird statement by Gobert, because he is being dismissive of people that like attention while drawing attention to himself by tweeting. On the other hand, it is a completely innocuous statement from his part; one that was not worth of a thread or a discussion, IMHO.

Uhmm it's the off season and have you seen some of the threads that's been thrown around here, this is at least (or was at one point) Jazz player related. Oh yeah, it's also Rudy MF'n Gobert he could wax poetic about the deuce he just dropped and it would be thread worthy.

This is demonstrably false really. Look at the rise of the super-team. Players care about winning at all costs so they cluster together to get the ring, even at the expense of salary or anything else really. I would say right now players care a lot about winning, and doing anything to get the ring on their resume.

I'd say different people care about different things.

Agree. LogGrad's statement is correct about most players. But I think Rudy was talking about Irving. Kyrie's best chance at winning a ring is with Cleveland, not New York. But he's already won a championship. Now he wants the individual attention of being "the man." Maybe of leading the league in scoring.
