The curse of left-handedness. I write left, and from distance I shoot left, but around the basket, even though I can use both hands just about evenly, I'm more comfortable shooting with my right hand, especially for jump hook, layup, etc.

I am weird too.
I can shoot layups and hook shots with both hands, but jumpers just with right. In martial arts/boxing I fight in left handed stance. In soccer I kick left footed ( I could use both feet but when accuracy is needed like corners, penalties, free kicks, etc it is always left.)

Thanks for sharing. This was entertaining. The kid was a little goofy at times, but his willingness to ask personal and pointed questioned was refreshing.

I do the same thing. Write left, throw a football and baseball with my right. Tennis right, Frisbee and ping ping left. Kick left...

We are just confused.

I’m right handed in everything. When I was really young, I shot the ball with both hands (simultaneously). Someone told me I needed to shoot either right or left, and for whatever reason I chose left. I played baseball a lot growing up and was a really accurate thrower. I can shoot from deep okay with my left, but any layups or one-handed shots are with my right hand. I have the worst midrange game on the planet. More recently, I’ve been trying to shoot right handed on mod range and from the FT line, and I’m much more comfortable and accurate. Still left handed on anything behind the three point line.

If I could do it all over, I wish I just started shooting with my right hand. I’d probably be in the NBA.

I'm right handed but pretty ambidextrous when it comes to shooting a basketball-- I can miss with either hand.
