Rumor : Detroit and Utah talking

Huh? JazzGal will be very upset.

Haha, my thoughts exactly. Reminds me of one of my favorite avatars:

Looks like more on this story has developed. From TMZ:

Detroit Pistons billionaire owner Tom Gores was harassed at his house Sunday night ... when two unidentified men showed up at his doorstep, demanding over a MILLION bucks for the Mormon Church -- law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

It's a bizarre tale -- we're told Tom was specifically targeted by the duo, which tracked him down at his home in L.A.'s exclusive Mulholland Estates, the same gated community where Charlie Sheen lives.

Law enforcement sources tell us, the men knocked on Tom's door at 10pm Sunday night, insisting he accept a delivery of an unspecified item.

Words were exchanged, but eventually the weirdos took off -- leaving behind a package full of papers, one of which demanded more than a million bucks for the Mormon Church.

As for motive ... unclear -- except that Tom is filthy rich, worth an estimated $2.4 billion. LAPD is investigating.

A rep for the Mormon Church tells us, "We haven’t heard anything about this, but it certainly has nothing to do with us, and it sounds very bizarre." Calls to Tom were not returned.

I'm having a hard time deciphering what this means as it sounds like it was written by an 8 year old.

I've heard unconfirmed rumblings that the "unspecified item" was in fact Raja Bell.

In all seriousness, I'm not interested in trading with Detroit unless Brandon Knight comes in the deal. If we could amnesty a newly acquired player then I'd consider taking on Ben Gordon. Since teams can't, that takes the possibility of getting Gordon from 'slim' to 'no ****ing way'.

I would've taken on Rip's final two years. Too bad he was reasonable.

My trade we could have gotten Knight and Mo Williams, Ben Gordon would have been the filler for salaries. We would give Detroit Harris and Jefferson and Clippers would get rid of an extra PG and get Tayshawn Prince to round out their roster. I think it is a win, win for everyone because we could get knight for Watson adn Williams to train.

The Millers/Jazz are simply not going to pay Ben Gordon $37 MILLION to be awful (on the Jazz or somebody else's team). It's a non-starter.

I remember the Jazz talked to Detroit before the draft about swapping their 8th pick for our 12th and a future 1st but Detroit wasn't having that.

Let me remind you of the contract that The Millers/Jazz signed with AK47.

For that contract isn't as bad as it is looks - 2 more years after this year. Also that last year of his contract could actually be an asset vs. problem.

If we were able to get 1 of 2 pieces in that trade (Daye or Knight) then I would take him.

If not, then of course then it is a no.

The AK contract may have served to teach the Millers a lesson.

Technically, since we still own AK's Bird Rights. We can sign-and-trade AK for whatever as long as we don't shoot ourselves in the foot by going back over the luxury tax. Therefore, we could still keep Millsap and instead trade AK to any team that wants him. Although, other than the Jazz saying that they've talked to AK's camp, we don't know if either side is willing to do this.

I do really like Knight and Monroe. If we could get both players then that would be awesome. Monroe would be more of the high-post passer on offense and Knight would give us another outside shooter. To avoid a bigger logjam in the post, yes, we would have to give them someone like AJ or maybe even Kanter. Of course, that's if we feel that Monroe is a better fit for our team.

Mo Williams - Knight - Watson
Hayward - Burks
Howard - Daye - Evans
Favors - Kanter - Evans
Jefferson - Okur - Kanter

Not sure if Clippers would do it. But they needed bench players at the PF and Center position and have a log jam at the PG position. Mo Williams knows the offense and can hit the outside shot which is needed. We also get younger and better prospects. Mo Williams contract ends in 2 years which would give Knight enough time to develop. It also clears up our log jam down low and at the wing positions.

Maybe draft picks would need to be included to have the clippers do it. Or maybe move Miles to the Clippers and Bell to the Pistons.

Now way Detroit does that. I'm skeptical they'd give up Knight, but I know they won't give up Knight AND Daye (heh) unless they're getting something serious back.

Also, for my tastes, I'd much rather cart out Jefferson. Salaries don't work, though.

I do like the idea of getting Knight within any reasonable price (none of our 4 guys, on the fence with Millsap, not taking back Gordon, Villanueva, or Maxiell). I also like Mo. Especially considering he should have some idea how the offense works and can spread the floor (which the Jazz need so so badly). I think Watson can get plenty of minutes still, too.

I think they would give up Knight actually. They were talking to the Jazz pre-draft about swapping picks, but talks broke off. I'm guessing Detroit wanted us to take a bad contract and give them Okur, or something along those lines.
