Samsung Galaxy S 4G or wait?

I am past my 2 years and so I'm out of contract with T-Mobile. I am debating the Samsung Galaxy S 4G or waiting for a final word on the dual core Samsung Galaxy S2. The only other phone that is interesting me at all at this point is the potential Verizon Iphone 5 that may or may not come out this Summer. Any thoughts out there in this land of many opinions? As for usage I am about 90% text and only 10% talk on moderate use and like to stay connected to news and sports and only really need a basic gmail account. I also like using my phone for taking photos and video capture when traveling, and occasionally movies, games, and music. There is a fantastic plan on discount at the moment with TMobile that may not be available in a few months that saves me $50/mo on the most comparable (but slightly inferior minutes) plan with Verizon. Anyone out there have a Galaxy S 4G and like or hate it? Good enough?

Honestly, I'd say wait. I have the Samsung Vibrant (the same phone just 3G) and it's a phenomenal phone, but when I saw that the 4G came out I started looking into it right away. I would have upgraded except for one glaring difference...the memory. The Vibrant comes with 16 GB internal PLUS a micro SD slot, the 4G just comes with a 16 GB SD card so there's no expandable memory. Obviously 16 gigs is a lot, but once you start stacking up apps, music, videos, pictures, and whatever else, you're going to want that expandable memory. I have 16 GB internal and 16 external and I'll never have to worry about filling my phone up.

I'd say either get Vibrant (the best 3G phone Tmobile has) because the 3G has REALLY stepped up for Tmobile, get one of the other 4G phones that has expandable memory (although the Samsung phones are without a doubt the best), wait for a new 4G phone that has expandable memory to come out, or just wait until AT&T fully takes over Tmobile (in about a year) and get one of the new iphones.

Get an Iphone 5. It WILL BE the best phone on the market. No other maker will be able to touch it.

With AT&T buying out TMobile I'd look to Verizon or Sprint, but that's just me. Ooh, this isn't the boycott thread?

I'd wait. There are supposed to be quad core phones released late this year or early next year. Supposedly the Tegra quad core is more powerful than an Intel Core 2 Duo.

And even if you don't want to wait, there are better phones than the Nexus S 4G.

The only reason I wouldn't wait is if T Mobiles plans are alot better then At&t's. If so it might be worth it to lock in the contract prior to the merge. Otherwise I would just wait for the Iphone5 or one of the quad core phones. As far as 4G goes I don't know what to tell you because my town just got 3G so it isn't worth it for me to even consider it because sprint charges an extra 10 per month if your phone is 4G.

Sprint charges that same $10 for 3G smartphones now too. If you change your phone, you'll get hit with that fee, 4G or not.
