What's new

Say farewell to UB. Poker tournament to be held in his honor.

Unless there is a surge in RSVPs this will be capped at 10 players by the end of the day today. We're at 9 right now. Act now!

The more the better, but it would be kind of nice to have everyone at one table.

Plus, Trout can get his consolation game started sooner.

I'm really looking forward to a single table game. I agree, the more the better, but a single table has a few advantages. Some for playing but more so for hosting.

One major disadvantage is the booty drops down. Unless a certain host were to pad it with his own money...

Numberica, I tried to PM you back but you need to clear space. See the "official" tournament thread in my private forum for more info.

I got basement afternoon drunk. It's been a while. Good times.

I would like another chance to hang with UB sometime, though. I'm sure he's pressed for time though.

If it makes anyone feel better I left the Grand Sierra ahead almost $1000. I lost a solid amount when I bought in later on in the day on a heart-breaker of a hand. I was cooking pretty good and went all-in on pocket kings...the other guy called on 9 A suited and drew 3 9's. The really bad thing was I flopped into 3 kings kings (9 5 K), but the turn and river did me in (9 9). A beauty FH shot down by 4 freakin 9's. Either of those last 9's not turn up and I would have been close to $3k ahead. Grrr. Not complaining about a grand though.

I will let you know when I am headed to Utah next and see if we can maybe get a game together. Hope you guys had fun.

Gameface is a man among apes and saintly in hospitality. Thank you for opening your lovely home to internet weirdos (weirdoes?), and on more than one occasion.

Mine was not quite as epic, but I finally went out when NUMBERICA called my all-in A-3 with 5-7. He then drew to two pair. Dammit.

Once again is was great meeting new people from the site. It was a fun game even though I played embarrassingly bad.

You wonder what a bunch of random people on an internet forum are going to be like and so far everyone has been really cool and I wouldn't hesitate to open my house to any of them at any time.

It was actually a hand like that where I made my money. I was sitting on 6,7 suited (clubs) and someone who had been playing conservative but poorly the whole day went all in. He was just behind of me in chips so I thought I had an ok shot to get ahead, and I was kind of getting bored so I called, as did some other idiot who ended with basically nothing. The first guy was sitting on pocket Q's. I thought, oh great. It flopped a pair of 8's, so he was sitting on two pair going into the turn. The problem for him was one card flopped matched my suit....and so did the turn and the river. Flush over 2 pair. That was cool. Put me far enough ahead that I could absorb the other loss and still leave ahead almost a grand for the day. Playing on the same day as you guys is good luck for me. I will do that again.

Good thing you had luck because apparently you didn't have very good poker skills on your side.

You got that right! I like to play but mostly just for fun. Never gamble more than you can afford to lose.
