I saw that Scott Machado was waived by the Rockets in January. I'm pretty sure that was so they could make some moves in February, which they did. Plus, they had 4 point guards, at the time. He's an excellent passer, strong and tough for his size. He played 4 years in college. He reminds me of a Chauncey Billups kind of player.

I know it'd give us another point guard too many, but do you think he's worth taking a look at this season?
Perhaps the Jazz could finally reach a buyout with Raja and pick this guy up for the rest of the year?
Perhaps the Jazz could make a commitment to him to bring him in during the summer league?

Only way they do a buyout is if he agrees to take less money. They are not going to pay him to just go to the Lakers. They will at least want to deduct his Laker's salary from the $3+ milllion.

That's what I was thinking. They could have an arrangement where Bell's agent can tell them how much the Lakers are going to pay him and then deduct that from the buyout. Then the Jazz honor their contract, even though he never played this season, and Bell keeps the same amount of salary.

the jazz would never disrespect Jamal and Earl by giving a 10 day contract to a rookie, Jamal especially has served well beyond the pay-grade/role he signed up for.

and its not like they're costing us every game... Earl and Jamal both played over 25mins in the OKC beatdown.

I actually really like JT and EW. I'm just looking at it like the draft: Best Player Available. That means, you can never have too many good players, no matter the position.

Mainly, I'm thinking long-term. You bring in a player now, to sit on the bench and learn the system. Then, later, when another PG goes down, he's ready to go. In particular, he'd be ahead of the curve for the summer league and we could really see what the kid can do with lots of playing time. Plus, you snag him before someone else does.

Machado Billups type of player? This must be the wrongest thing written over the forum. He's just useful for the running teams in the open court. Selfish, just right sided dribbling, useless set to set and chucker. That's why Rox released him and he was not drafted.

The "wrongest", eh? Based on what, exactly? Besides, how can you be selfish when you led the NCAA in assists? Seems to me that it's quite the opposite.

The Rockets barely even gave him a chance. They played him in 3 real games for a few minutes each game. Also, keep in mind, these are the same people that let Jeremy Lin go the first time they had him. In addition, how many point guards have they had in the last 10 years? Seems point guards aren't their forte.

Machado is basically baby Earl Watson.

The point is, he is young. He has talent. But if there are other issues then I could see why the Jazz wouldn't want to take a chance since they have good chemistry right now. Does he?

When they release him Machado was puting up about 5 TO per game and shooting dreadfully in the d-league. Maybe the Jazz sign him after they release Bell on MArch the 2nd. This way Bell can't sign with the Lakers and the Jazz can pick up Machado cause he's a FA before the March 1st cut date.
