What's new

So glad we don’t have to deal with this anymore ……

They could go down as some of the best trades. They could also still go the other way. We have lots of "assets" but we are not even a playoff team at this point.
I wouldn't say there is any chance of it going the "other way". Kessler alone makes the Minny trade good value for Gobert and Lauri at least makes the Cleveland trade fair value.

Still I think people are getting ahead of themselves with Cleveland for historic value. Trades like PG have such high value for the trader because they send them to an old core. Even if Mitchell just walks, it's hard to see them cratering with rookie extensions on Mobley and Garland

For me we win both deals. Don will play another year at Cavs, not win again and probably move to big apple where he will make.... money.
And Rudy, 2 options : he is back to his level this year, Minny perform well and he can go through. But he also can struggle again, gettind older and end traded for not much. This season will be very important for both of them.

I know almost nobody will agree with me, but I lowkey believe the Cavs made an even worse trade than the Wolves did.
Part of it is also that I still believe the Wolves have a viable path toward contention with Rudy whereas I think the Cavs with Mitchell have a low ceiling at this point.
You might be the biggest homer on this forum. The Cavs were actually good and can still potentially trade Don for a haul. The Wolves were mediocre and would have to attach assets to dump Rudy. Theres literally not a team in the league that would take Rudy over Don except you dumb dumbs that don't know ball here.

A lot of it depends on Mobley. His second year he didn't show the development needed on offense. I think Don and Ant are similar offensive engines right now. If Ant takes a step and Rudy hangs on to his prime I think they have an easier route to potential contention.
You boys aren't letting gone of this Minny contention theory.

I think Ant is already a more complete player than Don. Don will lightly on offense, but Ant defense is really good, and offense great. I'm not sure Rudy can be back to his prime, but KAT can. They will be good this year, they have a window.

Y'all don't watch ball, Don was significantly better than Ant last year.

I disagree. Don is a better player at offense but Ant is much better in defense. Overall they are close. I do believe Ant get more potential than Don, but i may be wrong. Both are good players anyway.

Those trades are clear wins. The value we got in return is the measuring stick, not the success of the ensuing rebuild, and we already know the value was massive.

Besides, how many times has a team blown up their roster completely like we did and then immediately afterwards look as competitive as we did.

Agree to disagree. We make the playoffs last season if we wanted to. We tried hard to lose and still damn near made the playoffs.

I don't think you know what the word "homer" means.

I think you are right but we didnt make it so the real answer is that we weren't good enough. I hope we use our assets to become legit but so far it has not happened and I dont see us being a serious contender this year. And being in the playoffs is not enough, we need to contend. I still think it is obvious that we could have traded away one of our dysfunctional twosome and been in the hunt last year. How many years of not being relevant is OK when what you did was self inflicted?

Small market teams dont jump from tank to contender... ever. There are steps to take.

We skipped a few years thanks to Lauri and Kessler emerging as legit pieces, but we still need few in-between years and likely 1 blockbuster trade... unless we find more all-stars from our current roster.

We could very well make the playoffs and get outclassed in the first round... and if that happened it should be considered great success for where we are in our timeline.
