He's going in the top 5 for sure. I think it would take Hayward + 15 or so to move to the top 5 and it would take Favors or Kanter straight up. Remember you're always going to have to overpay for top level draft picks as the draft is taking place. I'd give up Hayward and the better of our picks for a guy like Shabazz, but Smart just doesn't do it for me. Watching him today he's solid, but no way is he a star. Good defender, decent handle, but mediocre scoring instincts. He's going to look distinctly overweight and a little slow at the next level and he can't shoot.
I wouldn't give up any of our guys either. Im just not sure he goes top 5. Im thinking he is closer to the 10th pick. We night be able to get up to the tenth with just our two picks. Depending on where we land and where GS lands.
Im not sold that he is going to be an elite point guard. I just think he could be the best one in the draft. And we need a point guard pretty bad.
If you think he is going top 5 for sure, doesn't that mean you think he is pretty good?
