The ole eat **** and die. Haven't heard that one for a while.
I'm not super huge on lawn care...
So here's a pet peeve.
I'm cleaning out my car the other day and a guy, older than me, stops and says "hi" to me. I stop and say hi and ask if he's having a good day. He says he is, asks about my day, I tell him I'm doing well, and then... He asks me if I need any help with my lawn. I'm like "no, I'm good" and I start to turn around. He says, "Are you sure? If you need help I could mow your lawn." I turned around and said, "I've got it, thank you."
Okay, so the guy might as well have been suggesting that he could come over and have sex with my wife. Touch my ****ing yard and that'll be the last thing you touch.
Who the **** is so worried about the 5th worst yard in on the street that they even consider saying something like that?
I'm ready for the responses.
Dude is being nice and trying to help his derelict neighbor. Take care of the stuff you own, it isn't hard.
My lawn was exactly how I wanted it.Dude is being nice and trying to help his derelict neighbor. Take care of the stuff you own, it isn't hard.
The dude didn't want to mow my lawn for me. And I don't want my lawn to be short. I don't like short lawns. My lawn mower is set to the highest setting and I actually mow every other week. When this happened it had been raining A LOT (wettest spring on record in the valley) so my lawn had been growing more than normal. That may be, but if somebody is offering to help with it, it clearly ain't in good shape lol.
You just happened to hit one of my pet peeves. Getting mad/annoyed when people offer to help. Dude is trying to do you a solid, and you get all annoyed and huffy about it? Those types of offers are what helps make good communities. Sounds like you have a good neighbor, tbh.
EhEVERY OTHER WEEK? My goodness man. I'd say something too.
If I had the time, I'd mow my lawn twice a week. I can't imagine every other. That's awful. Full offense intended.

I didn't get huffy. I told him no thanks and then when he offered again I told him "I've got it."
Can you imagine if I had been like "Sure, come on over and mow my lawn. Thanks! I'm good with every other week if that works for you." I mean really, can you imagine that?

I’ll send pics of my lawn once it’s cut. My backyard is almost exactly what I’ve wanted.
Eh
Depends on the lawn, soil, rain vs sunshine ratio, etc.
My lawn grows slow as ****. Every other week is plenty. In fact sometimes when I mow it (I usually do about every other week) I can't even tell where I have already mowed and where I haven't mowed yet. I use a pretty short setting on my lawnmower.
Main thing to remember though is that not every lawn is the same in every part of the country. There are different types of grass, soil, environments, etc.
Utah is actually a desert. (Not sure if you knew that or not)

lol
sorry you're so triggered.
If I had to mow twice a week I'd just burn my lawn down. Lawn is like the most boring **** in the world. I don't think grass looks nice. My house has a lawn because it came that way, but I'd NEVER EVER put a lawn in where one didn't exist. Eventually I will get rid of my front lawn and be done with it.
But the thing is that I'm no expert on lake fishing in Utah and most definitely not in other states. I know the lakes (and rivers) that I do fish really well but not all lakes and not all rivers. Cause they all different.Lol. Brudder, I have a degree in crop sciences. I know a thing or two about how crops grow, and temperate zones. If you want, I can go very into detail on soil types, why some take water better, leach more water, bind nutrients, etc.. this is kinda my ****. I'll put it this way...I know how to grow plants like you know how to lake fish in Utah. I'm a cotdamn licensed expert.
Flat out, if you can get away with mowing your grass every other week and still have it not be too tall, you are starving it of either water, nutrients, or most likely both.
Every other week? Oh noes! The horrorI pay someone to mow my lawn every other week. They edge, trim the plants, etc. 25 bucks a pop. Absolutely worth it.
But it must be said that maintaining a green lawn, unless you live in a place that gets ample rain, is a huge waste of water. Better to get landscape more like the natural landscapes for your area.
