Summer League: Utah vs Detroit Mon. July 9th 1:00 MT

how did Mike Green play?
He is the ideal PG for my kind of basketball.
a do-it-all PG with a pass-first mentality.
It seems he had 4 rebs, 1 assist and 4 points.

I watched just to see Burks play the 1 and he didn't play 1 minute at the 1. All our real players stunk basically. I liked that Washington "kid" and I thought Stockton's kid played well.

I think that's taking it a bit too far...

A Bust?

Beating up some scrub centers? Did you even watch Enes manhandled Bynum last year? Both offensively and defensively too.

I'm as down as anyone else here about his performance. But to say he's a total bust ala Millicic is a bit much. He's shown that he can play at a high level. He just needs proper coaching and support which I just don't think is there at the moment. We'll see if KOC can crack the whip and get Corbin & Co. on it ASAP.

Street smart/attitude

I think Phil Johnson said it best in an interview. Kanter didn't grow up playing basketball like most kids. He didn't just pick up a ball and join pick up games. He "learnt" basketball. The upside to that is his shooting form is technically perfect. But he lacks that natural instinct that most Americans kids have growing up playing bball. I think that could be why he sometimes looks lost on the court. He needs someone to be telling him constantly what to do, where to go, what plays to run, etc. That's why I just don't think he's suited to this Summer League environment where you have guys wheelin' & dealin' at will, no structure no nothing (well at least less than a typical NBA game).

Bottom Line

He needs 1 more go-to move, like a jump hook, or a running jump hook - to go with his up & under. That's on the coaches to teach him that and let him practice it and use it in a real game. The size, the talent is there. He just needs some support around him to utilize that talent.

Kwame Brown once had a 27/15/5 game. You would think after watching all the basketball some here do they would see the pattern. Kanter's a guy who can blossom one year down the road and be servicable for a veteran team needing some youth off the bench. Yeah, but even people who have "learnt" basketball at a younger age than Enes, and from a different culture, and whom have more school experience don't make it at this level making the mistakes Enes makes. You can't change Enes, and that "lost" feeling over night. That looks like a 2 year project ALONE.

The Jazz right now are moving. In transit. Enes could hurt this team more than help if he doesn't somehow shake the kinks. And no homo, Kanter is lookin pretty kinked up.
