Paul Coro: Suns reached a buyout settlement with Pietrus, saving about $1.2M of his $5.3M salary. He'll make it up by signing elsewhere.

Pietrus is a good player. He'd be a good signee, a-la Howard. He'd be a good guy to help Burks transition to primetime. If we want to stay solid and still stay pretty young, he'd be a nice pickup.

We could just sign him for a 1-year contract and see how we like each other? Thoughts?

With Howard here, don't know how we'd fit him in, unless Bell gets traded. Doubt that, as he's had a very encouraging camp, and Pietrus is very erratic offensively, although he's an aggressive defender. Not sure of his age...

Good points. I figure he'd play SG because he's a bit quicker and athletic to handle playing defense at that position. Of course, if he's already set to sign with Boston then...
