What's new

Taming/domesticating a wild dog

She had slipped on the slippery plastic rear bumper on my 4runner a couple times so I bought some grip tape and stuck it on there and it has made a difference. Looks kind of dumb though.

One time she had a brain fart and tried to jump into my 4runner through the back side window (those windows don't even open) and smashed her face into the window and landed on her back.

Another time she tried to jump into the back before I opened the door and crashed and burned. I have been training her now by putting my open hand out at her and saying "wait" until I'm ready for her to get in and it's working.

She is pretty protective of my daughter.
I never ever have seen her be aggressive in any way to anyone or any animals (she was kind of aggressive to a squirrel once but I don't think she would have hurt it if she caught it) but last night my daughter and I were roughhousing and smacking each other and Willow came running into the room and was barking at me almost like she was telling me to leave my daughter alone or else.

Might have just been a play bark but there seemed to be a different edge to that bark. Not sure how I feel about that.

My shoddy bumper grip tape job. It functions how I hoped it would at least.
