The biggest mistake in the history !!

letting mathews go was obviously one of the biggest mistakes the jazz have ever done. they could have resigned him the day he was eligible for way less than what portland offered him when the 7 days were over. jazz just didnt make a move and mathews even said publicly he wanted to stay in utah. fuc* KOC and fuc* him for making another big mistake, letting go of dwill

We shall never let go of Matthews being gone apparently.

You absolutely do not know that.

And we would have exactly who at the 5? Fes, Elson and Jarron Collins?
Had the Jazz committed that much money to Matthews, the money could not have been spent on Jefferson. The Big Al deal was already in the works at the trade deadline last year. Kahn was waiting on the Jazz getting picks and an exception, which they did when Boozer left for Chicago.

Yes, Matthews has turned into a pretty good guard. But 90% of NBA people thought Portland overspent. To give a contract like that to an undrafted rookie who had less than 1/2 yr starting? That's a huge risk. We had a starter (we thought) in CJ and a pretty good backup in Bell (or vice-versa). It's unfortunate both have underachieved. Hindsight. I'd still rather have Al Jefferson on the team than Matthews. It's extremely difficult to obtain quality bigs. But I'll bet KOC is able to trade for a quality SG in the off-season.

Well said. I hadn't thought of this stuff and I completely agree. Rep

of course Matthews can say anything after the fact, but he was quoted in a couple news stories that he was never contacted by the Jazz at all, and had he been contacted with an offer, he would have signed it - - before it even got the to point of Portland making their offer. But the Jazz wanted to see how the market valued him.

Portland Trail Blazers guard Wesley Matthews said that he preferred to stay with the Jazz and that Utah was his first choice last summer, prior to him signing with Portland as a restricted free agent.

Matthews stressed that he has moved past the signing and is enjoying his run with the Blazers. However, he conceded that he did not want to leave Salt Lake City and initially was not looking forward to a change of scenery during the early part of his career.

Matthews said that the Jazz had a chance to make him an offer but never followed through. Once Utah did not step up, Matthews made a business decision...

If Corbin keeps playing Bell big minutes and calling a time out to set him up for a three point shot at the end of the game instead of having Millsap take it, signing Corbin to a multiple year deal may be the worst thing ever for the Jazz.
