My first Vegas show experience.

I went to their show over spring break. I didn't want to go in the first place, but I was persuaded to go. I didn't have high expectations going in to it, but I assumed I would be pleasantly surprised. I was really surprised by how mediocre and boring their performance was. Seriously, especially for what people pay to see them. I wish they didn't have back up drummers that drowned out their pipe-drums. A lot of the technology they used was outdated and I was annoyed by the multiple product placements they had in the show.... (sell outs). It's kinda sad knowing the thing that impressed me the most was them throwing and catching multiple marsh-mellows in their mouths. lol. I wouldn't even recommend the show for a younger audience because they'd probably be bored too. In short, the show reminded me of a high school talent show.

With all that said, everyone I went with enjoyed their show(they were offended I told them I thought it was terrible too. lol ), so maybe it's just me. Dunno ;) hehepeepeecaca.

Anyone else go that thought the same thing?

Sounds like ideal conditions to enjoy the show.

I saw the show a couple years ago and liked it quite a bit.

Although I know the Vegas show that is the Madame's favorite is "Jubilee." She laughed so hard I thought she was going to get a hernia.

What did you think of "Jubilee"? We're trying to decide if we're gonna see a show this year or just find new places to eat and drink.

Jubilee is super "old Vegas." We went precisely because we wanted to see a showgirl act with ridiculous feather headdresses and barely-there costumes and a song and dance routine. That's exactly what you get (and the topless ladies are a plus).

The show itself isn't great on its own merits. It is fantastic if you're willing to laugh at some questionable creative decisions. For example, One Act opens with a song saying that it's a fine fine day to sail on the White Star line. At this point, it is apparent that this section of the musical takes place on the Titanic and everyone on stage is going to die. This kind of morbidity (and nudity to boot) is its own kind of fun. But if you really want to see a quality song and dance show you're better off looking elsewhere.

One guy that is absolutely worth seeing in Vegas is Mac King. The show is at a time that it doesn't trade off with much (usually in the mid-afternoon), it's cheap (last I checked tickets were something like $35), and he's actually an extremely good magician. The shows are family and kid friendly and the humor in them tends towards dad-jokes, but he's generally pretty amusing on those terms and one of the best bargains in Vegas for shows.

...I just blue myself.

I've only seen 1 Vegas show: Penn and Teller.

It was f'n awesome.

Their version of the bullet catch trick (which many here should be familiar with because of "The Prestige") is the single most impressive version I've ever seen.

Teller's version of The Miser's Dream is unsurpassed. Just a gorgeous illusion.

There's a group of us who go and getting us to agree on a show is pretty close to impossible. We've seen all the Cirque shows I want to see and we have a hard time figuring out the next show. I am dead set against Carrot Top. My wife is dead set against Chris Angel. My sister in law is dead set against Penn & Teller. And all of us are set against Celine/Manilow/Osmonds. I mentioned Jubilee and nobody really objected. As for the magician, going during the day probably won't happen. That's prime drinking at the pool and watching drunk chicks flash time. In other words, the best show in Vegas.

Where is this? Do you go to one of those $500 a beer places on TRUTV or something?

that suggestion by Sirkickyass has to be a setup. But if you really want to then Mac King can be had for 2 for $35 if you check around. It's a cheap show and very family friendly. Just don't eat the oreo he pulls out of "nowhere".

I don't think I'd like their show any more than you did.

I've seen the Blue Man group at Stadium of Fire a couple years back. I thought they were pretty funny, but the show got a bit stale after a while. As for shows in Vegas, I've only seen two that were not the free ones. Excalibur's Tournament of Kings was really weak and the included meal sucked. I also saw Phantom at the Venetian and it was excellent. They do a great job in a really nice theater and it is a slightly condensed version that kept the pace and removed the fluff, without taking anything away from the show.

One of the best shows we've seen was the Crazy Horse show at MGM. It's pretty entertaining, if you don't mind hot seductive topless women who have not been surgically enhanced.

If they are "hot", "seductive", AND "topless" then I really don't care if it is due to enhancement or not.
