The HELL NO to AK and Fes Thread

If you can sign AK to a reasonably priced two year deal, you have to think about it, since he'd have decent value in trades with that sort of contract.

****, you just convinced me. We could maybe package AK and Millsap/Bell/Miles/Harris for something fairly special...a mid first rounder...a legit 3...

The Devil and Greg Miller.

I'd rather play a guy with talent and heart out-of-position than play a guy who's the prototype of the position physically but sucks. Think about it. It's the same reason why Ronnie Brewer is a better power forward than John Amaechi.

No John Amechi sucked because he liked getting posted up too much. That's just bad defense right there.

Easy to have this plan and idea when it isnt your money going down the drain as attendance drops and the team loses money from no wins. Yeah, if it wasnt a business, great idea.
Jazz probably aren't making the playoffs no matter what Corbin does. So that extra revenue is out of the picture. Go with a youth movement and what does it cost, perhaps 3,000 less fans -at most - over 2 years? What's the average ticket price, around $50? Multiply that by 41 games. So about $600K/yr. You make that up by not signing washed-up vets trying to improve the win total by 5-6 games (but still missing the playoffs). Say no to AK. Perhaps pick uo CJ's option but then trade him for a 2012 pick. It's not a lot of money to make up and the Jazz are already in decent position with AK's salary off the books now and Okur's coming off next year.

Jazz are in a true rebuilding phase, but actually have some solid talent. I'd roll the dice with a starting lineup of Favors-Jefferson-Millsap-Hayward-Harris and bring Kanter, Okur and Burks off the bench. That's an 8-man rotation + the Jazz need a backup PG, so I'd try to re-sign Watson. Bell is also available for 10 mins/per at SG, but definitely NOT as a starter. Against smaller lineups, Hayward plays SF and Millsap becomes the 6th man.

The main point is that Favors, Hayward, Kanter and Burks MUST get significant minutes if the Jazz are going to be a force in 2-3 years.

i didnt follow nba till 2006, was there an issue about AK which would leave question mark on peoples mind about his attitude?
because since then i only remember a problem about him with boozer&deron, accusing him for the loss against Spurs which AK didnt have any fault at all.
Im trying to figure out, why people think his intangibles are so questionable?
For me only thing would be injury proneness. And Ak needs to fill he has a good role, not only as a defender but as an offensive guy also. I have watched what he is capable of in euro basket 2007 when he was given a major role in the team, he lead the team to championship ahead of powerful spain(hosts) in their best time.
I dont expect to see the same performance from him anymore, but if his role is clear, he will add something to the team for sure. My only concern would be his health, not his attitude

Great point. And that's one reason I think Corbin was given a guaranteed deal and a vote of confidence by ownership. Corbin has to concentrate on playing the younger guys and it may cost him a few wins initially.
Part of me says let's just go for it. Start Burks and Hayward at the wings. Play Favors and Kanter heavy minutes. I don't care if that means the Jazz only win 20 games next season. That just gives us a chance to get another wing or a replacement for Harris.

Are you going to be buying tickets? Most people won't, though I see your point it won't happen.
