Much like Edey last year, I think there is a prospect who is being underrated due to preconceived notions we hold about how NBA players look.
With Edey it was he's too big/slow and a 4 year college player.
With Yang, it's also big/slow, but add in being Chinese and playing in the CBA.
He's a top 10 talent who ESPN currently has mocked going 42.
Draft Yang and have him backup Kessler. Gives the Jazz more playmaking, physicality, and size.
He will have to work on his defensive mobility, but that is the only question I have on his game. I think everything else has a chance to be high level (passing/shooting/rebounding/interior scoring/rim protection).
We were robbed of the chance to draft Edey, but since this is a stronger/deeper draft, Yang might be limited in how many teams are willing to take the risk of drafting a CBA player who doesn't clearly fit the modern pace oriented basketball most teams are use to.
Maybe the Jazz can do some finagling and move up from 43 to take him somewhere between 22 and 43, but I wouldn't risk it personally.
