The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

Ya Im a huge Kessler fan but his weaknesses are glaring (so were Goberts though). The payday looms large in how I feel about him on the roster going forward. Im kind of ok with young guys ruining the tank. If Kessler gets a reasonable contract and proceeds to single handedly ruin the tank then that is a win in my book. That would indicate that Kessler is underpaid and a great player on a great deal.
I'm mostly with you. But there's a loud voice in my head that says "don't let a traditional center—even one on a good contract—ruin next year's tank."

I'm worried. I'm still on-the-fence here..... I have plenty of thoughts about selling high, avoiding the payday, and preserving teh tank.
The west is so stacked right now that even if we tried to win with this current roster it wouldn't matter. I think we are clearly a bottom 3 team in the west with the suns and possibly the Pelicans depending on Zion. Odds are we remove even more talent from our roster though with Sexton and Clarkson likely being the odd men out.

The bigger difference is Gobert was truly a generational defensive talent. Literally changed game plans by the opposing team when he was in the game. Kessler just isn't there. Lowers what is a reasonable contract a bit more.

I’m curious if the Lonzo Ball trade possibly makes Garland available. Could Cleveland trade Garland and keep Jerome?

Finney-Smith opting out in LA is an interesting development. Losing him for nothing would really hurt LA.
