The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

It’s semi realistic because it sounds like the Jazz actually liked Key more than TH but rolled the dice hoping he would fall. Key’s team wanted him here, so I think that gave them confidence.

Hindsight 20/20 though. Very few would have taken TH over those guys during the draft.
I though about adding the point that, interestingly, Key was in the conversation in that range of the draft.

Podz and Jacques just weren’t.

I mean, no one was talking about those players there. Can’t completely divorce from the context of reality at the time.
I did not want TH, I thought there were a few better choices. However, you also have to factor that he looked so much better as a defender/athletically before his nasty injury.

Sadly he is a slower, heavier, less confident player than he was pre-injury. Yes, it was a wasted pick, but the injury did not help.

Injuries can be a huge influencer on a players growth and talent. And a lot of it can be mental.

I knew very little of Exum at the draft, but I think the Jazz made the "right" pick there based.on overall talent profile. I actually think Exum would have developed into a great player if he was not made of glass.

TH has been disappointing so far but he did help get JJJ who may turn out to be the missing piece
