The only way to guarantee getting a franchise player is overpaying to get a proven one. However that is far from risk free strategy. Every possible strategy includes a combination of risk and luck in various degrees. Deep tanking for instance is less risky but requires way more luck.

I don’t think the Jazz can compete in the open market for free agent stars. The only way is to build through the draft. Which is why they really need to score in the next two years some studs or else I believe Ryan smith and the organization will start to see dwindling interest in their product.

It’s perfectly logical. Tank right, draft smart, and don’t spend a decade tanking. I’m not sure how old you are, but you might want to read a little bit about how this franchise has remained competitive for the majority of the last 40 years.

One of the super impressive things about Cason's defense is he very rarely fouls on the perimeter. He's able to make tight contests without fouling, which I'm guessing is rare for a rookie.

OKC has two of the top 20 perimeter defenders in Wallace and Dort, that's a huge luxury.

It changes his whole point if that's the basis of his argument.

If you draft well you don't have to tear down to the studs. That goes quadruple if you have a ton of draft assets to trade.

You mean his perceived failures are more reflective of a rigid and inflexible coaching strategy and philosophy? No way. GTFO of here. He’s exposed in the playoffs. He’s on roller skates. You really need someone who brings a lot of unique offensive capabilities like a Porzingis. You can’t contend with a non-spacer like Rudy on the floor. Not in today’s NBA.

Yes if only anyone could have seen that a fool's gold coach and bad roster development was what held the jazz back. Not to mention a "star" guard who all but admitted he refused to play defense.



If only....
