The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

Regarding Haliburton's injury, I keep hearing that he had to play with his calf injury because it was the NBA finals. We heard the same thing with Kevin Durant. I get the point that you are not guaranteed to get to the finals again, but the risk of an Achilles injury once you have a calf injury is just too high. I don't agree that being out for a full season and having the chance that you are never right again is worth it. I think this goes back to the championship or bust mentality that is a mindset that I increasingly don't agree with.

Thunder fans will remember it and relive it many times for the rest of their lives. Who the f cares if some random twitterliving Lakers fans forget about it?

NBA definitely turns into sport version of Kardashian's at times... probably more than most major sport leagues. But only a drama queen would imply thats more meaningful than winning a championship. Banners in the rafters is the whole selling point for these Durant type news anyways.
Also, dude mentioned "all the injuries" as a reason for an asterisk.
Can I get a list of all the injuries? Seems like haliburton missed a total of less than 1 game that resulted in a loss. That equals a bunch of injuries?

Honestly I thought Indy had a chance, but the start of that 3rd quarter they were turning the ball over constantly and losing every rebound.

Not sure if they would have won with Haliburton, but they were gifted bad games from Williams/Chet.

Bingo.

This is the folly of treating the NBA like the championship is the only thing that matters.

In about five years, nobody's going to remember that the Thunder won, and when they do, there's an asterisk due to all the injuries.

Wasting whole seasons trying to get to this point is the height of insanity. 90% of people cared more about the Durant trade saga than the finals.
Lmao do you think OKC is gonna care? They got a title...more than Utah can say despite having a team for 45 years.

Spoken like a true life-long Lakers fan.
