The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

Thoughts on Tre Johnson so far?

It feels like he was the most discussed/polarizing prospect in the 2025 draft thread, but not much discussion now. Probably because he's looked ok, but not great, but not bad. I don't know, I guess I don't have a lot to say about him either, lol.
Haven't watched enough of the Wizards to answer that as in depth as I'd like, but here I'll go.

First I'd say that I feel like the Jazz would still be in a very good position if they had landed 6th with Tre instead of 5th and Bailey. I also believed then and keep now that we'd be better with Tre than the rumours of the front office liking Jeremy Fears, and Fears been looking quite decent too.

But I'd still take Ace now. He might be a more raw prospect, but I've been satisfied enough with the flashes he's shown so far, and I believe that a potential 2 way big wing have priorities over offensive minded guards, as ones are way harder to come by than others, both through the draft or trades.

If anything I'd say that Keyonte breaking would make me even more confident in going for the top available wing compatible with draft range over a prospected high profile offensive guard at equal range, but that leap isn't something we as fans couldn't really account for back then.

This list includes a lot of players who are primary, point-of-attack defenders. Thus, they have many more chances of getting "blown by" than a Center, for example. A better report would include some kind of adjustment for this obvious fact—like, how many "blow bys" per drive attempt. I guess this "% time percentile" metric is some attempt at this, but it could be better.

(Not surprised to see Tremendous Cryside respond to this in a really obvious and stupid way. That guy is great for the chuckles. You knew he was going to find a way to insert some part of his narrative in there. Lol.)

Bilal is such a special athlete. He just can’t shoot at all. Maybe it’ll come around, he can really defend.

The Nets have been pretty interesting. They’re designed to tank this season. Their owner, Joe Tsai, even admitted in an interview before the season started that their focus is on landing as high a pick as possible in the 2026 draft. But just like with the Jazz, their tank hasn’t gone quite as well as they planned, and now a lot of folks are wondering if they’ll trade Michael Porter Jr before the trade deadline. I’d say that, while not certain, it’s a strong possibility, especially if they continue to win more games than they want.
