The Official "Bring back Earl" Thread

Is there the chance he was battling lingering/chronic injuries and such and was playing at only 75% most of the year?

The only significant injury Bell had was the surgically repaired wrist, but Raja's horrific season had little to do with his shot. If he made 40% of his 3's he would still have killed us out there. He can't drive and he can't pass so the offense dies when he touches it. On the other end, his trademark defense is gone because he can no longer defend drivers. He plays feisty, but that doesn't cut it.

He's just lost a step. It happens to 35 year olds. He's arguably about the same player Keith Bogans is at this point. The problem is he doesn't know that. And the way he handled his demotion is a sure sign that he's going to be trouble playing 20 minutes.

I don't know if it is a sure sign. I'm guessing (hoping...) that with the reality that DWill is gone, and the new era has begun he'll take his place or ask for trade. And in this scenario he probably wouldn't be 'good' he'd likely be a non-factor just a dude goin' through the motions.

Someone name a better back up point on the market. I would only consider JJ Barea and doubt he would come here and Mario Chalmers, who the Heat will probably re sign. Aaron Brooks is another but he is restricted and doubt Phoenix lets him go

Hell no to chalmers.

He's a complete dumbass. He's the one that kept trash talking the Mav players and getting wasted. He's an idiot.

We need more players who can make things happen (like Earl). Not more selfish self promoting pricks who just piss off the other team with their dumbassness.

I'd love to get Earl back, but not because he's that great. The reality is we could very likely get a better backup point than Earl. The reason I want him back is because I think he could be hugely important to whatever offense Ty is trying to install. He'll grasp it completely and he'll be like an extra coach getting everybody on board. Not a lot of guys like Earl in that respect.

Who? Who could we get that is a better backup that gets paid under 3m a year? Earl Watson made 1.2 last year....

I'd take Earl over any other FA PG on the market. The only other one I would give a chance is Patrick Mills.
Remember when Earl asked to go back to the bench because that was his role and that was how he best helped the team? Compare that with Bell's pouty meltdown when he got sat. Earl is class and heart. I want him back.

I would like to see Mills replace Price as 3rd string PG, but Earl > Mills.

We should definitely resign Watson. And if we do, I think we should make Evans change his legal name to Sherlock Holmes...

I don't want two (or three) vets at the 1. If I had to choose between not signing Watson or trading Harris, I'd choose signing Watson and trading Harris.

But this team needs some legitimately new blood at the position.
