Much better. Rep quality.

Kanter is better than a late first round pick.

I actually agree with this. 14/8 big with Bird rights, the ability to match his contract offers and familiarity with their head coach. I could see the Jazz and Suns making a deal. Don't think it'll be just for Kanter, but I think he's worth way more than Houston's picks the next 3 years.

Do them one better, give them kanter and a pick

I'm on the dragic train

"I think our roster balance is a little off, and that's my fault," Suns GM Ryan McDonough told Burns and Gambo on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Wednesday. "We are a little too backcourt heavy, especially in terms of guys who, you know, I think you'd define primarily as scorers in the backcourt.

"So I think at some point we'll need to balance that out, try to get a little more size, a little more frontcourt scoring and rebounding."

"We're going to be active over the next week," he said. "We're exploring a lot of options. We have more time (than usual) to make decisions."

Chris Sheridan: Phoenix Suns could deal Goran Dragic before deadline

Dragic probably commands less in a trade because he can opt out and become an UFA. It would be worth the risk, IMO. Goran could come in and start with Dante sliding over to the 2 to replace Millsap. Phoenix is all about offense, so Kanter would be a good fit for them. He's an upgrade over Len or the Morris brothers. And they would have the option of matching for Enes. They're reportedly seeking a 1st rounder for Dragic. In Enes, they get a PROVEN scorer. Seems like this would make sense for both teams. Maybe the Jazz don't do this deal BEFORE Kanter asks for a trade. I think they HAVE to pursue it now.

IMO, Dragic would be smart to NOT opt out this summer. The time to do that is in 2016. But, if he does, we could offer him a 4-year max deal. It would then be manageable under the new cap. At WORST this drops our pick to #12. We simply aren't going to catch OKC or New Orleans. We're too far under .500 to get to that level, even with some good winning streaks. Sure, there's a risk he opts out and leaves. But it's a good risk to take. Jazz could even promise to sign his brother next year with their last roster spot. Or acquire both in the trade right now.

Both teams are under the cap, so other minor pieces can be added by either team to get the deal done.

Only if we get a guarantee that he will sign an extension in the summer...

It's precisely because of the uncertainty that all they're asking for is a pick. A contender should have no problem giving them a late first. Goran strengthens any team he ends up on. A late first is not much to pay for increasing the odds of winning a championship, especially for those right on the cusp.

give them kanter & burke, they might think they're getting a bargain with two top ten picks yet in reality we would be winning big time ..

Not happening, and burning a pick to devalue our pick this year is short-sighted. If he leaves, it's an absolute rebuild killer. Short-sighted, IMO, and I have confidence DL isn't going to risk the rebuild by getting impatient with short-sighted moves.
