The Official Trey Burke Evaluation Thread

I think indecision was a bigger challenge than athleticism today. Let's see how he looks a few games from now.

He was super terrible today. Reminded me of Eric Snow.

Ouch..... Eric snow is worst case scenario.
Repped for droppin that particular name

It's no secret or mystery. If he had that third gear he would have gone top 3 though. As long as he can nail his jumpers and keep defenses honest, he'll be fine. Today, like the pure shooter Caldwell Pope, his jumper was off. Nerves probably got the best of him.

Good post.

Wrong thread, I know, but Gobert looks like a great pick at #27. He's not as slow as I thought he'd be and his reactions are good--as evidenced by the put-back, the blocks and receiving that dish from Burke.

Way to early for me to be hitting the panic button on Trey. He may not have had a stellar shooting game today, but I liked what I saw, and felt that he was getting more comfortable with the game as it progressed.

I think that he will continue to improve and will be fine as our point guard when it's all said and done.

I did like what I saw from Olidapo and Olynk today. While Olynk may not be a monster defensively, he can shoot, and stretch the floor, something that will always be a plus in the NBA today. I can see why the Jazz were considering picking him. He could of really opened up the middle for Favors/Kanter.

Well Burks has given Burks the 2 thumbs up:

"I feel like he's good player and is going to make us all better," said Burks after exiting Sunday's game with a mild left ankle sprain. "He draws defenses. That makes my life easier, Gordon's life easier, D-Fav and Enes' life easier. I like that about him a lot."

Dude wait until there is an actual offense being run that he knows with some talent around him. Defensively I thought Burke did well staying in front of his man. Offensively I think he was trying too hard at times to create for himself, but there were a couple drives that he dumped off perfectly.

You guys are ridiculous. The most important thing a PG can do is run an offense to get guys open and them get that guy the ball. The second most important thing they can do, almost as much as the first, is be able to reliably knock down any open jumpers and long-range shots. That's 90% of being a PG. Those are the abilities that actually make a difference and they're the ones that time and time again become relevant on every possession. Anything else is gravy, and being elite in a couple of other extraneous areas doesn't really make up for a lack of the above mentioned. So we can continue to excite ourselves over the next guy with "explosive athleticism" or "unbelievable length" but the question you'll have to ask yourself is if these guys are really PGs.

It's a summer league game.

He looked as if he was trying to figure things out and it was slowing him down a bit. I only saw him in the Final Four in college, but he looked quicker and faster then, than he did today.
