What is at issue here is the fact that when players are allowed to palm/carry the ball the advantage it gives them takes away for the need to pass the ball to get a decent shot for there team. Thus, you have more isolation plays, more "one on one" and the product becomes unbearable to watch for the most part! It's almost mind boggling that some players are so quick and fast to begin with and with the added advantage of being able to palm or carry the ball....NO type of defense can be played to keep the player in front of him! For example, with Westbrook and James, NO matter how much the defender backs off, they are able to get by him, because they virtually pick up there dribble and run past the defender! It use to be you could back off 3 or 4 steps and force the quicker guys to have to pull up and take a jump shot. Now, even when you back off 10 feet....they STILL get by you! Can you explain that....without the assistance of being able to palm the ball? The 1st step of guys like Westbrook and James is so explosive simply because that 1st step is done without dribbling the ball!!! Does anyone else out there see what I'm saying or see the same thing I'm seeing?
