The year KOC ruined the Jazz

First the jazz drafted Elder Hayward, a guy with very limited lateral movement instead of Larry Sanders.

Now a trade of AK for Diaw. Bad, very bad. If this trade goes down the Jazz lose at least 5 more games than last year. Check the per stats between Boris and AK. Its not even close. That was before Diaw discovered french pastries and became the pillbury diawboy over the summer.

Say it with me people. Say No to Diaw.
We want Gerald Wallace if we are going to trade AK.

i think KOC did great job this year, by drafting Hayward, it fills the sf/sg positions left vacant by departure of Wesley&Korver, we all know Hayward isn't very athletic, but so was Jeff Hornacek, his defense doesnt concern me since he wil be mostly defending 2nd people. By drafting another big doesnt help us if he can't score since we lost 20pts pf boozer, and larry sanders isn't a big time scorer.

it wil be a good trade for us by takng Ak's contract off the book, Diaw can play for us for few years down the road. we wil lose AK anyway after this season if we dont trade him.

That is where we obviously disagree. I think next year will prove that Sanders > than Hayward and
AK>>>>>than Diaw. You will know I was right by the end of the year, although I know now.

AK for Wallace....

while they are at it, what other all-star can they trade an overpaid, oft injured player for?

Okur for Dwight Howard perhaps?

Chad its clear you don't value AK as much as I do. But just because you can't get Wallace doesn't mean you give up and take any fat piece of pastry eating crap. Hold out for someone better. I feel like AK for Diaw is how you feel about AK for Wallace, completely one-sided.

The trade is not done yet. It could completely change when announced and KOC might surprise everyone.

KOC has done amazing so far but this is questionable. Getting Al for basically nothing besides picks and finally getting a good back up point, getting a defender/3 point shooter/vet leadership in Bell was great, then getting a vet back up big man in Elson wasnt bad at all and then drafting an under rated Heyward was great.

If they do this deal, Utah most likely takes a hit. Every1 said a couple weeks ago AK is the key to Utah's success. IMO I thought Ak was good when he played in the playoffs. Only getting Diaw is pretty bad. Maybe Diaw can prove us wrong but AK is much more valuable

I don't give KOC much credit for signing Jefferson (a great signing). That trade fell right into his lap when Kahn gave away Jefferson for salary cap room. Any GM after losing Boozer, Mathews and Korver would have said yes to taking on Jefferson. It was a no brainer, perfect for KOC.

Signing Bell was nice, but may not have been required if KOC would have just gave Mathews a five year 25 million dollar offer at 12:01 instead of waiting for Portland to set the market.

Now KOC is playing games with Fes. Eventually Fes will sign the one year tender for a million and is agents will be pissed. They are seeking a multi-year deal around 2 million per year. I'd give Fess a three year six million contract today. He's 23 with upside. Next year we lose Fes because KOC is not as good at his job as everyone thinks.

When you have a player seeking max money that is when you let other teams set the market. When you have a young up and coming player with potential like Mathews and Fes you should be proactive not reactive.

For example, Andray Blatche just signed a new contract when he still had 2 years left on his deal. KOC would never do this.

As furious as I was about the Hayward pick, the jury's still out (and you would've picked LARRY SANDERS???). The salary dumps have been the Millers, KOC facilitates their orders and he's done a good job with such a difficult task.

KOC's a good GM, the bad moves (including if Hayward sucks, as I think they made the pick) fall on the Millers (AK's contract, Harpring's 4-year deal, Memo extension, all of the salary dumps since then as casualties of previous boneheaded contracts issued). KOC gets way too much blame for obviously bad decisions that aren't really up to him (contract terms, salary dumps). Kevin Pritchard wouldn't be able to do much for owners that are usually clueless.

And as far as Matthews is concerned, the Jazz have done everything right. Matthews wasn't worth even what you were offering and even still, you never bid against yourself (that's kind of the first rule when you hold cards in negotiations). Just because Portland made one of the most retarded decisions of the offseason doesn't mean that the Jazz did anything wrong.

Also, Fesenko is an idiot and his agent is an *******. The Jazz are doing what they should there as well.

In summary; you have no ****ing clue what you're talking about.

One thing I know for sure, you can't make everyone happy all the time.

I would like to see the Jazz get more than Diaw + Ross for AK, and I think they're holding out for more. Cutting AK loose was destined for controversy, I hope it works out in our favor. But considering the moves the Jazz made this summer, which the majority of you have approved, something now must be done to even it all out. The Jefferson/Bell/Watson/Elson "upgrades" came at a cost. AK and a salary dump are apparently that cost. Yeah, sucks being in a small market folks.

Numberica

There were at least 3 guys drafted after Hayward that I like. Since I live in vegas I went to several summer league games, and I thought Sanders was in the top five players overall. He had a great summer league. He has more offense than advertised and he is a defensive threat right now that could get time on any team.

As for the Millers telling KOC what to do you may be right. I don't know. But if your going to do a salary dump, why take back Diaw? 9 Million this year and more importantly 9 Million next year. you save salary cap now (a lot of money) but next year your hand cuffed by this decision. Seem like a bad move.s

The GM - everyone say this with me - HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DECISION TO CUT COSTS. The GM usually is asking for money to spend, not the other way around.

The only thing that KOC would be clearly accountable for is striking out in the first round every year he's been with the Jazz except in '99 (AK) and '05 (Deron, top 3), the most damning of all being drafting Kris Humphries and Kirk Snyder over Josh Smith and Al Jefferson. OOPS.

Remember when Michael Beasley totally destroyed in summer league and Rose blew? Who cares? It's summer league, not the NBA.

And FWIW, Hayward looked pretty good in summer league as well. But that's not the NBA, hence "the jury's still out". Even still, that pick looks like ownership, not KOC (he's the one that keeps talking about getting longer and more athletic, things that Hayward isn't either of).
