What's new

Time for a true gutting of the team this offseason.

Actually the funniest thing is in this thread you say you got crucified for asking for him to develop an offensive move. In the thread you linked to you jump all over Rudy's **** because he tries to post someone up (you know, using an offensive move) instead of just dunking it. You need to get your story straight. Do you want him to "beast mode" dunk it (your words) or develop a post move? But I guess either way you can play the victim card, which seems to be what you really want.
You said, "many of us have been saying this (rudy getting an offensive move) for years". I just posted this saying that there are more than a few people on this board who think that he doesn't need to develop an offensive game.

Yes. that fits with the idea that many of us feel like he should develop an offensive move and there are those who don't. That's why neither of us said all. Although you strongly implied that the only response you got for anything was to the negative. You're obviously just not paying attention. also the negative response you got in the thread that you linked to had nothing to do with him developing an offensive move, but everything to do with the fact that you tried to claim that he was a terrible offensive player when the stats prove otherwise. again if you want to play fast and loose with the facts that your choice I guess. Still seems like you're trying very hard to play the victim card.

Weird, the link must have sent you to a different thread, or you didn't actually go through what people were saying. I'm not getting into that again, I've said everything I wanted to say in that thread.

There were PLENTY of people saying that all the offense Gobert needs is putbacks and lobs.

I sent you the link just showing you that there are some people on this board who thinks Goberts offense is fine. I'm not going to get into another debate.

This team definitely needs to add more talent, especially at the offensive end. I honestly don't think it's going to be easy to do though. If we're being honest we aren't going to attract any top tier or likely even second tier free agents. We also don't really have many trade assets at all. Dennis Lindsey definitely has his work cut out for him.

Take Mitchell and Rudy away and this team is right there with Phoenix, maybe worse.
Did I question the importance of Rudy & DM? Nope. Yet, the complementary pieces around them are pretty good, particularly Ingles. One third piece and better scoring from the bench and we are good to go.

Nah. The foundation is solid. We’re just a move or two away from unlocking.

Think Milwaukee last offseason.
Milwaukee essentially went under an entire cultural rebuild over the offseason with the signing of Coach Bud and clearing out of the Jason Kidd staff. There's a whole lot more to the Bucks success than signing a couple of good role players in the offseason, Coach Bud should be COTY and I firmly believe that if they had him in last years playoffs instead of their interim coach running the skeleton version of Kidd's weird schemes they knock off the Celtics in the 1st round, even with Bledsoe playing poorly.

Jazz have a solid two man core of Mitchell and Gobert but really lack the 3rd guy, which isn't something you can say for Milwaukee with Bledsoe and Middleton flanking Giannis. I don't think it's a coincidence at all that one of the more popular FA targets discussed here as a potential 3rd guy is the 4th best player this season on Milwaukee in Brogdan, they just have a better group of core guys right now and the Jazz need to find a 3rd guy to round out the core. Ingles is best suited as a 4th/5th option who can playmake for others on occasion, Ricky isn't consistent enough to be that guy and his weaknesses are magnified with Mitchell/Gobert, Favors doesn't fit with Gobert (unfortunately) and the rest of the roster just isn't good enough to be the 3rd guy outside of maybe the 3 - 5 game glimpses of Exum's full potential before he gets hurt for 2 months and starts back at step 1 when he returns (basically even more inconsistent than Ricky).

There is a difference between saying that rudy doesnt NEED to develop an offensive move and saying i dont want him to.

I totally want rudy to be better on offense. But he certainly doesnt NEED to be better on offense to be a really really good (even all star level) player. He is already a really good all star level player.

Again, i think his offense is fine. And the stats agree with me. I would like for him to develop some more offensive moves though and make his currently good offensive statistics even better.

Could you imagine if Gobert had a 3-4 foot hook.... or literally anything offensive? I see a lot of people are hurt because I said Ingles could be traded LOL. I realize some people are 'okay' with being mediocre (which is where we are). Maybe I'm more of a risk taker and taking that chance at the top

Don't agree with most of this post but I do think the major mistake the front office has made is failing to make trades happen and aversion to risk taking. our front office has been way too conservative, esp. in regards to mike Connolly or mirotic. The point guard health and consistency situation has held this team back for two years in a row. Rubio/Neto/Exum is just a devastatingly inconsistent and injury prone guard rotation. We just can't continue to not have a point guard who is healthy and a consistent offensive threat. Favors is a good player but he and Gobert are never going to be the optimal fit. We could have had that optimal fit with mirotic--honestly I think we would be a top three team in the west if we had done the Mirotic trade; instead we are sixth. But the front office overvalues picks and I guess we got grayson allen instead.....great stuff there.

Then we really need the third piece. One more borderline all star, a consistent 15+ point a night threat. Don't know how we are going to get him with the front office being unable to make trades happen and the fanbase going full racist in public and sinking even the slightest chance a big free agent would consider us.

Ingles is getting up there in age too, and can't be relied on to continue to produce at a high level all season long going forward. The Jazz are in desperate need for a second play making scorer. Wish we can get Kemba Walker or something.

Hes got to be a 6th man type if we are going to be elite. I hope he sticks around in that role for a long time, but weve got to upgrade the 3. Or have DM along side a legit scoring 2, and go that route.
