To the "we're better without Conley" crew

I’m not sure how many think we’re better off without him. I think he’s a bad fit with Mitchell. He’d be dynamite off the bench. The issue is his contract. The money he’s making is just so much. Is that the best we could do? His contract makes me believe he should be option 1B behind Mitchell. But I don’t think that’s good. As a team, we’re better off with Mitchell being the first option, then Bojan, and then jingles/Clarkson...

Playing Mitchell and Conley together means that no one else gets involved and we’re a liability on defense. That $30 million could be better used getting us an actual backup to Gobert and shoring up the bench.

Conley must be a really nice guy. He's already got some shills in the media. Why is every media member pushing the idea that Mike Conley was already playing well?

If the sixers offered us Horford for Conley, I think id strongly consider it. Are the 4 years guaranteed or is there a team option somewhere?

would we have to play him at the 4? Why not play him as a backup 5 with some mins at 4?

The last year is half guaranteed.

Horford is 33...Kevin Love is 31 with the same contract but his last year is fully guaranteed. Just a thought.

Age is definitely a concern. But Horford is a 7 footer and doesn’t have the injury history as the shorter Klove, right?

All I’m saying is that I’d consider this trade. I hate how Gobert is our only big. If he goes down to injury, we’re dead. We desperately need another center. Not sure if I’d pull the trigger though. Paying Horford big bucks to essentially be Favors seems idiotic.

Philly has a greater need for Conley than Cleveland, plus I think Horford would be a better fit because he could be a legit 5 backup and play the 4 when necessary, a stretch 4 because he can make the 3. He also provides rim protection which Love doesn't.

Horford or Love could play with Gobert. That's what would separate them from Favors. Besides, me might just be paying Conley to be the PG version of Favors where he might not close. When we're matching up against these big teams with elite wings...are we really going to roll out Conley instead of O'Neale or Ingles? I don't think so. Even if Conley was playing well, you need those two on the court and Conley would be an easy target.

There's no chance Conley is being traded this season if we're being honest with ourselves. The FO will not admit defeat so soon. If Conley struggles, and Love/Horford aren't traded this season however...that expiring might look appealing in exchange for an unhappy 4/5.

I think the only interest in Conley right now would be if some other team deems his contract less bad than one they already have. CLE might want to cut future salary, but this is more of a summer move than right now.

I actually think Kevin Love had become underrated ever since he was traded from MIN. Especially on the defensive end.

Horford is 6' 9" without shoes, 245 lbs.

I'm trying to think what Lamarcus Aldridge would look like next to Gobert. There's a puncher's chance that San Antonio would move him. He only has 2 years on his deal. He's 34 though.

No team is going to take Conley off our hands unless we pay for his entire salary/contract! They all got eyes and can see Conley has played his better games in the past and would be a waste of money, and roster space.

We don't have the assets and it's a very poor fit.

Sixers fans not into Horford. Conley for Horford?

I mentioned this on December 7th on JF. @Saint Cy of JFC tweeted about it two days ago like it was some original idea because he saw Horford is unhappy there.

Horford is cooked. He sucks. Now maybe it’s just a complete unhappiness thing and he’s not remotely trying or motivated but I doubt it. It’s not worth the risk imo given his contract.

I’ll put it another way. My buddy’s a Sixers fan. He watches all their games and I doubt has missed more than 3 or 4 games this season. He wants him gone. For anything. Literally any contract in the league.
