Top 5 Targets for Summer 2018

I'm not sure this is comforting. He played for the Nets who were awful. Improved but still awful and I gotta think he's part of the reason why. 6.6 rebounds for a guy who plays the 4 80% of the time isn't very reassuring and I doubt he was much of a stopper defensively as I know they got killed on the interior. Is his 11.7% a good rebounding rate?

2.2 rebounds per 100 possessions less than Favs.

DMC has a great RPM... IDK... if we are talking AB for him I’m in... if it is taking his deal and giving cap relief I need more... it will likely cost us Favs and there may be better opportunities to improve... cap space gonna be a hot commodity.

Realistically if we can't make a big trade for another all star level player to put next to DM and Rudy then I'm fine re-signing Exum (Maybe 3 yrs at 6-8 mill per) and Favors (1 year at any salary it takes) and rocking with basically the same group for another season. We have a good group that likes playing together. And when healthy we know they can win a lot. So why not? Then in the summer of 2019 we'll have Rubio, Favs and Burks contracts all coming off of the books and we'll have options.

I really think the Tobias Harris fit is perfect. He puts up great numbers but isn't a diva. His teams won last year when he was one of the main guys (Detroit early and Clippers late). He's only 25. He plays PF with some SF. He can shoot the 3. He's an expiring contract so the Clippers might think about trading him rather than risk losing him for nothing.

We are going to see throughout this series how important Favors is against an elite team. He had one amazing game and a few amazing moments versus OKC. He had an amazing game last year vs the Clippers. But overall, our team concept would work better with a stretch 4 who isn't a liability on switches. That's not new news. Many have been saying that for a while.

I want Favors to stay and I like what he provides on and off the court, but Carroll would be an amazing fit for a number of reasons. Wish we could have both....

We are getting whatever we want when we actually set up the offense... let’s keep playing smart mkay...

Are u effing kidding me... these refs are ***.

Just once I’d love for refs to officiate hardens off arm like they officiate the guys guarding him... he’d foul out in 5 minutes.

every keeps saying use the MLE but the Jazz will start under the cap so that means that they don't get the MLE correct?
Considering cap holds for Favors and Exum, I think they’re going to be safely over the cap to begin with. They have to renounce Favors and Exum, plus cut/trade Jerebko, Sefalosha and/or Burks to clear enough space to operate under the cap. Pretty much the opposite of what I expect them to do tbh.

My short pitch for Beasley: there's a lot of evidence that he's matured, playing overseas seems to help him grow up. His scoring ability has always been there, and I view him possibly filling the Joe Johnson. There's still room in the league for an old school, one on one scoring vet, and besides Mitchell, we don't really have a reliable scorer in the front court. He will probably come cheap, and I don't view him as a starter barring injury. It would be healthy to have him to complement Gobert and (hopefully) Favors. Snyder has proven his system can find a solid role for almost anyone. He's definitely more valuable than say, a Thaddeus Young. He can still rebound and hit the 3.

I wouldn't take him over Favors, or especially Tobias Harris. But as a back up, change of pace guy in short stints? Totally.

My short rebuttal. Thanks, but no thanks.

(Jazz can find better options - especially with Donovan, Rudy and Snyder’s reputation.)

Well I mean, I don't really see better options at 4 off the bench. I obviously would prefer Favors, Love, Gordon, especially Harris, etc.

But, for his skill set, at the 4, I like him better than Ilysova or Thaddeus. Ilysova will be more expensive, he has more talent than Young and can hit the 3. He's taller than both. He's never really had a good structure around him, like in college. Miami tried but he had too much pressure on him, and he had a bad crowd around him. He kept bouncing around, and had basically no system in the Carmelo Knicks for the last couple years. Snyder has done more with less.

I mean, he's the type of guy that's shown he's developed a work ethic. Plenty of talented guys don't get the chances he does, and if he hadn't matured, he wouldn't keep getting opportunities. Plus he has a reputation as a good locker room guy. This article gives a good perspective on why I'd like him as a pickup: https://bit.ly/2HTiuNv

I'm not talking as a starter, but in a Joe Johnson role? He's a good pickup. Scoring is why I'd love the Jazz to pick up Hezonja as well. For starters at 4, I'd prefer Harris, Favors, Love, possibly Aaron Gordon, that type. Backup? Beasley.

On a side note, like I said, I question Parker's knees and attitude. I think Mirotic will be too expensive, and will drop off once he gets a pay day. The Jazz should maintain cap flexibility as much is possible. This year should be focused on bang for the buck.

Niko can still be had. It sounds like Nola still has plans on signing Cousins, from what I read, which means Niko could be on the trading block at the deadline next year

My wonder is if the Pels will look at possibly trading him around the draft if they’re going to keep Cousins. If the Jazz offered Thabo/Jerebko and their 1st round pick, New Orleans would have rented Mirotic for their playoff run for the low cost of swapping Asik for cap space and dropping one spot in the draft. That’s not a bad deal for either team if he’s available.

Would Boston be open to trading Rozier? With Irving there, I don't think Boston has room for him. It's not like they are hurting for allstar caliber players. Would he be an upgrade to Rubio?

I feel Beasley will get a bigger contract than you seem to think, campaignist.

I think you're right. Question is if he gets that from a playoff team or not - I think after this playoffs, guys like him will be looking to get paid by teams like the Jazz. At least, I hope.
