Top 5 Targets for Summer 2018

I'm not moving on but I am trying to avoid talking Rockets/Jazz until after we see Game 2.

In your opinion, who are the top 5 players we should pursue via trade or free agency this summer? This does not include anybody for the draft or keeping anybody we currently have; strictly free agency or trade.

Format:

1. Name: Brief explanation why you think he would be a good fit. If it's a player we need to trade for, throw out your initial trade offer with a very brief explanation.

I'll let somebody else start us off...

Mikal bridges, draft choice that is long, young, and plays small forward.

Gobs of free agents that want to play with a young, talented core and a team that shared the ball and gives fair chances to play to all.

Really not the point of the exercise guys.

Name 5 free agents or guys currently on other teams you would like for us to pursue this summer. Not draft picks and not our current players. If you don't have 5, tell us who.

1. Patrick Beverley.
2. Trevor Booker.
3. DMC (Carroll, not Cousins).
4. Channing Frye.
5. Aminu.

Mirotic out of reach.

Beverley would be so sweet here as our first guard off the bench. Doubt he’d be happy with that doe.

One of my first calls would be to the agent of Paul George to gauge his interest in joining the Jazz and being the missing piece to becoming contenders. I think he would wait to see what LBJ does before deciding because I could see him wanting to go to LA and play with James. If he is serious about winning Utah is one of his best options out side of teaming up with LBJ. Jazz would have to get creative and dump Burks and release rights to players.

Otto Porter JR - He is way under performing his contract and if Wall gets his way they might clear space to try and make a run at Cousins. I think Porter would be an amazing PF in the Jazz system. Who would like to see 2 of the best 3 point shooters in the NBA playing on the same team?

Mario Hezonja - Has been awful until he got consistent playing time and started to live up to expectations.

Nemanja Bjelica - If the Jazz decide to move away from favors he could be a great replacement because of his ability to space the floor and hit 3 pointers

Julius Randle - I know his 3 point shooting is awful but if he could hit 33% to 35% from 3 he would be an amazing 4 in the Jazz system. He might also be had pretty cheaply considering his right will have to be waived in the Lakers make their moves

Honorable mention

Dante Exum - I think 3 more years at around 30 million would be enough to see if he can finally live up to his potential.

I am putting this an an honorable mention because I am torn on it but Damian Lillard. The trailblazers would want at least Rubio in return and with the way rubio has played his value is at an all time high and he would be a nice fit next to McCollum because of his defense, but damn I like Rubio and I don't know if I would do it. (Of course the Blazers would want a draft pick or 2 and I am sure the asking price would be way to high but...)

Have to add Jabari Parker to the mix just because

of Course Derrick Favors we love you

Joe Harris

Like this one. Overall just looking for cheap guys who might be able to contribute - Bjelica maybe? Maybe a replacement for Favors if he decides to go elsewhere. Plenty of options there - Mirotic, Randle, Young, Luc.

Noel is a guy I'd keep an eye on to see what he signs for, still think he's got talent.

Paul George would be perfect on this team but not happening after what our fans did to him.

I’ve thought that Klay Thompson would be the absolute perfect fit on our team. So whoever is closest to him who we are able to get. I’ll leave that part to DL.

I’d hope not. Then he can take that frustration out on the opposition. We have good defense, but we need just a bit more nasty.

Rasheed Wallace would be perfect, tbpfhwy.

in no particular order:

Derrick favors. If he leaves, Kevin love
Wilson Chandler
Michael Beasley
Mario Hezonja

We need scoring, especially on the wing.

I want absolutely nothing to do with Jabari Parker, and Exum leaving wouldn’t break my heart

There’s some guy on twitter who’s a senior NBA analyst that’s been on this PG to Utah thing for a few months now. It won’t happen, I’m just not sure where he’s getting that idea.
