Trade deadline discussion

We have debated this before and we will debate it again. It is what it is - Conley hasn't taken us anywhere that Rubio didn't unless you want to wave the "best regular season record" banner in my face.
Sure, boil it down to that. You are unbelievably stupid when it comes to anything basketball.

The Ed Davis signing was universally praised. Like insanely praised. Both on this board and in national media.

I was one of the few people here, or anywhere, saying it was a bad move in real time.

This is what makes this **** so funny. 90% of the board praised this move when it happened, but now y'all want to act like it was the dumbest signing of all time.

**** out of here.
Who cares about what people said when the signing took place, davis's a fricking flop and will be remembered as such. we are not paid to make basketball decision, DL is. that's why he's fired.

It could be a serious problem in the playoffs (and most certainly would have been against the Clippers), but the age thing is real (if only for the hammy troubles).

But yeah, it’s a relatively small part of the Jazz’s problems right now. We need more of everything that Conley brings to the table.
If the Jazz play exceptional rotational defense and they get beat because teams where able to shoot a high percentage over them, then I tip the cap.

That's not what's going to kill the Jazz in most scenarios.

Yes, he is on both their levels IMO.

Obviously CP3 is way more important to the Suns than Conley is to the Jazz given their roster, but Conley's positive effect on both ends is enormous.

It's hilarious how badly some people want to act like Conley is just some run of the mill starter who averages 15-5. He does so much for this team that can't be captured in regular stats.
yeah, like "Donovan is trash" in your opinion

It was... I was just fine with it. Its the combo of doing that and picking up TB's option that gets weird to me. The cost to move off of the Davis deal was just fine... even when he got flipped later and we seemingly got hoodwinked a bit.

The bigger issue is as we are literally cleaning that **** up we were like... ya know what... do it again but this time with more money!!!!

So you can say backup center is the only thing we effed up on but we wasted two firsts on drafting backup centers... another first to offload a backup center. So three firsts to address a problem that a minimum guy filled this year. I won't add up all the seconds because I don't care that much about those.

There is some cap dumbassery mingled in with that backup center issue too. If you are going to pay JC you had to go cheaper on center... if Favs won't take less then big damn deal. We likely could have had him for 7-ish million with the years we put on that deal. We do that we avoid the tax last year. Avoid the tax last year and its not as big a deal this year or next. The backup center may have been the genesis for our blunders but you can't commit that many blunders and just say its a backup center issue. Its a draft and cap problem coupled with a thing for finding a backup 5.

(Also sidenote - none of those 5 were even shooters... we burned so many assets on boring *** normal backup 5s... I could almost understand it if you were looking for the unicorn)

Chris Paul is small also but he's got the skill to get to where he wants when he wants. Conley struggles against length and athleticism because he just isn't as good as Chris Paul.

Not that hard to understand.

I’m the OG Jae homer and I am telling you you are off your rocker.
Hindsight is always 2020. Jae is a glue guy who is always there. We needed a good 3 and D guy more than we needed what Conley ended up providing.

I wish I was wrong. I wish Conley was more effective than he has been, but he just hasn't.

This thread could be so much better if a few people with horrible basketball opinions didn't dominate the entire conversation.
