Trade Exception Option

The Jazz Wonderbra

Hey all. Some of the vets may remember me. I used to frequent this forum YEARS ago when I was in College. Anyways, I thought this was intelligent enough to post.

The Jazz have a trade exception and the need to add a quality point guard. Outside shooting would really help open up the paint for our quality bigs. The Clippers have Chris Paul, Chauncey Billups, and Mo Williams (all of which are better than Devin Harris in my opinion). So, the Jazz should do the following:

Send part of the trade exception + Jamal Tinsley (filler) to the Clippers

Clippers return Mo Williams

Why would the Clippers do that? Straight salary dump?

Also, do the Jazz really want to be committed to $17 million worth of point guards next season?

The main goal is to dump harris. I do like MO Williams though, he would be an instant starter, instead of sitting 3rd place on the clipper's bench. He should also be familiar with Utah, he's played here before. <<<<I THINK.

Yup... the Clippers are way overcrowded at the 1. They have Randy Foye as well as that little girl Fordsen or whatever her name is. They probably wouldn't be interested in Jamal, but they would dump salary. Would you rather have Chris Paul, Chauncey, Mo, Foye, and Fordsen ($25+ million covering 1 spot) or salary dump? No brainer. It makes perfect sense for the Clippers.

We would obviously not stick with Harris if this type of a deal were to go. So, Devin would be traded as an expiring contract or before this type of a deal went through. Or we would hold on to his contract for one year if we couldn't get something worthwhile back for him as an expiring, serviceable player.

Also, getting Mo would mean a Renaissance to the days of 'the worst team in NBA History' when Raja Bell, Mo Williams, and AK (along with Ruffin - Ha ha ha) lead the jazz to a 41/41 record. Reunite Mo and Bell.

I guess that would make Kanter the new Ruffin.

Ruffin may have been the worst offensive player in NBA history, but he could really defend Dirk. He's come to my mind a few times over the years when Dirk has had his way with us. And Kanter is already better offensively than Ruffin ever was.
