He's an incredible athlete...
Not a very good outside shooter...
And one horrible PG. He averages like 1/3 the assists he should.
When will jazz fans get off this whole needing an elite PG thing to be good again? We don't need guys like Duron. We don't need more Carlos Arroyo's who think it's their #1 job to dribble the clock down and hit game winning shots. We don't need guys like Westbrook who think they need to go 1 on 5 and score. No more of Harris who thinks he needs to drive every time down the court or who run down to set a pick and just stand there instead of getting those elbows up and picking off Jefferson's/Millsap's defender like Stockton used to do all the time for Malone. We have plenty of scorers on this team.
What we need are more/better outside shooters and younger Earl Watson who won't get in the way of this engine from running. Get the ball where it needs to go and get out of the way!
The only times this Jazz offense looks like... The Jazz offense... Is when Earl is in the game. He dribbles and shoots the least of anyone on this team. Which is exactly what we need out of a PG. Get the ball to Hayward, Favors, Millsap, Evans, Jefferson, Kanter, etc.
Maybe this concept is lost with today's young generation. In their minds PGs are these guys like John Wall and Derrick Rose who have the ball in their hands 99.9 % of the time and need to shoot most of their team's shots. If they cannot score THEN they pass. And that the other 4 players are supposed to rebound their misses. Is this what's happening?
Because I remember a time when PGs mostly just got the ball, brought it up the court, and threw it to a wing and ran to some dark corner out of site or actually did something that Harris has never done in his life, SET A PICK while the scorers took over. I remember a time when PGs tried to run an offense instead of just try and score.
Maybe I'm too old fashioned
