Trump’s Dividing of America

If it wasn't the squad it would've been Nancy Pelosi, Colin Kaepernick, or BLM. The right always finds a Boogeyman to rile up their base.

While I agree a lot with Never Trumpers, I disagree with them when they call for "The Squad" to quiet down. Expand their coalition to other representatives? Sure. But quiet down or risk upsetting the GOP's base? Laughable.

The GOP most likely would've gone after them had they been outspoken or not. Hell, AOC was demonized by the reich before she was even sworn in. They went crazy because an attractive and liberal Latina won office. I'd say 90 percent of the hate she generates is because the sexually frustrated white dudes who mock her know she wouldn't give them the time of day.

Remember this video? It made the white supremacists heads explodey:

What was that music video supposed to be about?

The anti-Trump brigade continues to be completely unhinged. Everyone seems to be trying to win the contest to come up with the most ridiculously extreme analysis of what is going on and why. They are creating a crazy narrative and then acting like the things they are saying to each other are reality. Unplug from the hate machine. They are poisoning your mind.

Gullibility on steroids

Again, Obama divided this country, and Trump is bringing you anti-Americans out into the open. Back the ones against Ice and that hang our flag upside down...that would be you Thriller.

Trump complains more about America than anyone. He complains about his own Generals, his own FBI, our justice system, the American press. The list is endless.

And while the snowflake in chief incessantly whines, he says that anyone who opposes trump opposes America. Because he and his mindless lemming followers believe Trump IS America.

Trump is un American.

History will make this clear and illustrate how the right wing lost its mind due to fear of losing white male power. Mark my words.

Trump is like Hitler? Really? I didn’t know he’s taking Americans and putting them through concentration camps and doing tests on them which eventually leads to killing them.

Where is this happening? That isn’t right and why is it not getting national attention?

So you find a single exception to disprove an analogy? That is like saying Rudy Gobert’s defense not like mutombos because he played for a different team and had a different number.

If you don’t see similarities between trump and authoritarian leaders there is little hope for you.

LOL. GF was defending the actions of the Clintons as recently as 2016. It should be obvious to anyone that Bill Clinton's behavior was boorish. Those who aligned with his political ideologies simply did not care.

I really don’t like Bill Clinton. Trump is orders of magnitude worse.

Third of Dems Say It’s Racist For White People To Criticize Non-White Politicians

https://www.mrctv.org/blog/third-dems-say-its-racist-white-people-criticize-non-white-politicians

That makes for great discussion...

A lie. Here is the actual question from the poll, directly from Rasmussen’s web site: “2* Is it racist for a white politician to criticize the political views of a politician of color?”

Why do trump followers just lie constantly?

Changing “white politician” to “white people” can be nothing other than a deliberate lie designed to meet trump’s racist agenda.

Of course the notion that a person of any race is beyond criticism is dumb. But context matters and of course these answers were tainted by recency bias of trump’s racist comments about 4 POC congresswomen.

This is a reflection of the "love it or leave it" meme, so prevalent during the Vietnam War years. The truth then, and the truth now, is that the movements criticizing American policy did so because they felt/feel we were/are better then this. In the Vietnam era, the anti-war movement was dismayed that we had gotten into a war predicated on a "domino theory" of the spread of communism, dismayed at the loss of thousands of American lives. The people who were part of the anti-war movement decades ago cared about their country, cared about its direction, wanted an end to all the senseless deaths.

Today's anti-Trump movement is also comprised of citizens concerned with the direction of their country, dismayed by a president who is intent on promulgating anti-American attitudes and policies. Dissent is as American as the proverbial apple pie. Identifying dissenters as anti-American is itself embracing an anti-American attitude. Further, embracing the attitude that America=Trump lays the groundwork for approving uncritically anything he says and does. It already grants the man absolute power in the "rightness" of his response to critics. It approves of a social and political order in which dissent is branded the product of the "enemies of America". And, in so doing, it misses the point of the meaning of this 240 year old experiment completely.

I certainly hope this will be History's judgement. We're at a fork in the road in facing a choice of who we are, and who we want to be. It can go either way at this moment. 4 more years of Trump may make his authoritarian nationalist tendencies now, seem like only the preface to what he is capable of, only the preface to anger, hatred, and racism as the face of our national character. It will not be easy beating back the dark id he has elevated to such a degree. But, I would rather cast my lot with the belief that the truth will out, and that there remains still an innate goodness within the American people. We shall overcome.

Even with your correction it’s still ****ing stupid though.

Yep. I believe in America. We are strong enough to overcome this embarrassment. Remember McCarthy?

Question to everyone arguing that economic benefits overpower bigotry and immorality. Given the hypothetical choice between (a) policies that highly favor your personal prosperity and David Duke Presidency; and (b) Barack Obama, who would you vote for?

Yep. I believe in America. We are strong enough to overcome this embarrassment. Remember McCarthy?

I think it’s different than McCarthy for two reasons:

* McCarthy wasn’t President, he was a senator from Wisconsin.

* Fox News didn’t exist back in 53.

I think this current Republican brand of Fascism (and that’s what this clearly is. Don’t beat around this bush calling this nationalism or white supremacy. It’s Fascism) is particularly threatening. Not sure we’ve seen anything like this.

I’m not as optimistic. I see trump being very competitive due to the alt reality that Fox News has created, the weak Democratic candidates fighting for the nomination and the Electoral College.

The EC might be one of his greatest advantages (other than Fox News). As long as he keeps those homogeneous midwestern states in play, he’s going to be competitive no matter how much the rest of the population despises him.

Let’s say he wins (Jesus help us...). America is strong enough to recover.
