Recess appointments are perfectly fine if used the way they are intended to be used. What Trump is trying to do is specifically called out in the law as NOT what recess appointments are for. You cannot use recess appointments as a way to circumvent Senate oversight, or to avoid expected political resistance.

I don't care if Clinton had 1,000,000 recess appointments as long as his all abided by the rules set forth for using recess appointments. If Clinton had 1 that was out of bounds I would be against it.

Trump supporters don't like details. They don't like subtlety. I wonder if it is because they lack the cognitive ability to deal with anything that isn't black and white, binary, yes or no, boy or girl. It gets too difficult and they react with anger and denial. If it's too hard for them to understand then it just isn't real.

When installing a dictatorial fascist regime you, by definition, cannot follow the established rules or conventions.

If you replaced "democrat" with "republican" that would ring just as true. Remember the leader of the republican party didn't just call them heretics, but literal "enemies of the state", which has a far darker and more ominous connotation. Face it, we are in the darkest timeline as far as our politics goes, no matter how you slice it. Our choices have been reduced to "completely ****** and incompetent" and "completely evil and fascist". Not great no matter what. But in the end, just like in the NBA with the 3 point shot, it took them some time to figure it out, but now they have cracked the code and know how to rile up their bases, and none of it has anything to do with governing, it is all fear and hate and intolerance, the othering of america, on both sides. They are all just seeking power and care not one whit about the people they are supposed to be serving. And now the oligarchs are in full control. We will test out Aristotle's views on politics and see how long this can stand. The only measure for me was directly evil vs not directly evil. And in the end, unfortunately, directly evil won out.

Germans were happy with Hitler for a while too, until he started enacting his final solution. He did many objectively good things. He pulled his country out of deep depression, he provided jobs, he developed the first interstate road system (freeway). The list goes on. But in the end the final ends were absolutely not justified by the means. All we can say now is, we'll see.

But you seem very happy with Trump. I am glad for you that you got your guy! Hopefully he doesn't turn out to be a monster, and he doesn't do all the things he literally said he will do and has already started setting in place by appointing some of the architects of project 2025. We'll see.
