Ty .. end of game .. really

I didn't see the game. Unless Corbin specifically told the player to *hit* the free throw, I don't see how it was a huge mistake on his part. An oversight perhaps, that he didn't remind the player to do the obvious thing, but to me it seems like it's 80% the player's fault and 20% the coach's fault. Was this Hayward, by the way?

Milsap

Thanks. Can someone please explain to me then why this is Corbin's fault rather than Millsap's fault?

I think it is both. Can someone remind me, I don't think there was a time-out before the free-throws, so IMO that makes it more Saps fault, if there was a time-out prior to the free-throws, then it is Ty's fault for not making the strategy clear or not telling Sap to miss.

Don't think so

Give me a break it is the coaches fault period. How long does it take to send the message in after a foul or for that matter substitute in a player with the message, if you can't get a players attention on the court. There is plenty of time to do both. Millsap better not intentionaly miss the shot without the coach's permission. I am hoping that we want the players to play hard, but down deep want to drop like a rock to get the best second pick in the draft that we can.

With our luck last night, even if Millsap missed, we probably would have been called a foul for over the back on the rebound or they would have made a full court 3 to win the game anyway.

1.3 was a tough call. If it's under 1 sec then definitely miss but 1.3 is enough to throw full length and it is even tougher to swallow a loss like that.

Also, I think the biggest mistake of all is that NO ONE guarded the inbound pass... should have put Fes in to disturb the inbounder.

really?

"1.3 is enough to throw full length"

If you throw at 50 miles per hour, the court is 94 feet long (lets make it 50 to throw downcourt to a shooter to be conservative), the ball would be in the air 0.7 seconds. This leaves 0.6 seconds to gather the rebound, release the ball, catch and shoot the ball. We are in the realm of superhuman powers.

Now you may be able to rebound and heave a full court shot in 1.3 seconds, but the odds of making that shot are probably one in thousands.

I am glad you took the blame for the loss.

HOWEVER, it was not a tough call.

Up one, the other team has 0 timeouts, 1.3 seconds, you MISS the 2nd free throw every time.

Man 3rd grade basketball coaches know this.

AND , on the off chance you must try to make it like we did, you ALWAYS guard the guy inbounding the ball with the tallest player you got, (Evans for Jumping)

Again, I am glad he owned up to it...frustrating because it was not a tough call.

You thought he miss that call unintentionally? ... Really?
