What's new

Utah Jazz representative was in Greece to watch Giannis Adetokunbo

Take him with 17 and bring right away and play at least 15 minutes. We need to tank hard next season.

No, bringing over would be stupid. Let the C4 develop and get signed to new contracts. Then bring him over when he is more polished and take advantage of 4 years of a good player on a rookie contract ala Tayshaun Prince on the Pistons in their championship year.

Keep in mind, they said the same thing about Jan Vesely.

Vesely, and Biyombo both were long super athletes who only needed to learn to shoot and play basketball. Neither has worked out so good.

Locke was gushing about the 7-0 Monti who could pass, shoot, and put it on the floor. ( I still love Monti), I see the Greek freak more like Monti, but with less experience. Some poor team will take him, but probably a team with two firsts. If the dude can play at all OKC will get him long before the jazz are even up.

I agree with Thriller, lets get a tonic over here.

I don't remember the words skill and Vesely ever being used in the same sentence. I recall they thought he had some AK defensive potential, but I don't think anyone ever said he had ball skills.

Nearly every article, whether from DX or something see, talked about a) his athleticism, b) his versatility, and how well-rounded he was, and how he was now working on a back-to-the-basket post-game. I'd describe that as a versatile skill set, but maybe we have different definitions in mind. His only huge flaw was his shooting.
Except IIRC he was older, couldn't shoot, and wasn't a ballhandler. Which really wouldn't be the same at all.

Amen. All I was saying is that in terms of versatility, having a thin build, and being tall for a SF, these are all comments that justified Vesely as a top lottery pick.

No, you clearly said the same things that were being said about Jan were being said about Giannis.

Vesley had no skill and the DX reports clearly said that. They said he was working on his jumper and his post-game, but both were extremely raw, but showing slight signs of improvement. None of those things were naturally gifted to him skills wise. The only things he was praised for was length, athletic ability, running the floor and finishing in transition.

Giannis is being praised for having a high natural skill level and being naturally long, but questionable explosive ability. Pretty much the opposite of Jan, save for the length comparisons.

Yeah vesely sucks. This adetokunbo kid reminds me of Lamar odom. Odom was a damn good player when he was motivated and not smoking weed or hanging with the kardashians. This kid looks like he will be really good.

I like your idea of drafting him and stashing for a year or two. We are going to be scary good in like three years.

Kevin Durant at 19 Years Old- 6'10", 210 lbs., 7'5" Wingspan
Giannis Adetokunbo at 18 Years Old- 6'9", 196 lbs, 7'3" Wingspan

Considering these measurements are done 1 year apart, they are really similar body frames.

It would be even more baller if we could somehow send him to P3 during whatever time frame his Euro team's off-season. The only thing I don't like about stashing a kid like this in Europe is that they seem to be behind the curve on athletic training programs over there.

Don't have any desire to argue this. Agree to disagree.

The dude could do nothing but run the floor and dunk. Had no handle, too weak to guard the 4 and too slow-footed to guard the 3. Garbage. This Greek kid is a much better prospect. No comparison.

In an interview on 1280 with Dave Friedman a week or so ago he said that with the flexibility the Jazz have, they don't necessarily have to draft a player that would play this year. Did anyone else hear the interview?
