What is the insane logic in this? Teenagers already cause a very disproportionate number of fatalities on the roadways, now you want even younger drivers playing on their phones and driving? ****ing stupid.

So Ms. Peck thinks this will get kids off their devices and actually out touching grass? This ain't it. A surprising number of young people I know don't have any interest in driving.

Plus they will just drive while on their devices. In no way is this better. You don't want them on devices so you put them behind the wheel of a 3000 pound weapon? With their device in their hand. Teens are way more likely to drive with their devices in their hand than adults.

Victoria Police have been trialling having kids 14 years old and younger driving here, they seem to be pretty good at driving fast (and stealing the cars they drive) but not so good at not hitting other drivers, parked cars and stuff. 16 is permit age here, they have to have some sort of signed off log book now of hours (150 i think) and I think in their first year as a provisional driver (minimum 18 years old, 3 years provisional, no alcohol) you can only have one passenger. I'm not sure if that's all day or at night only.

A few years back, we had a teenage girl, on cellphone, leave her oncoming lane, and drive right at us head on, while I was luckily able to swing hard right into a parking lot at the last second. And a cop was right there to nab her! Very lucky we had a lot entrance right there, and not a curb or parked cars.

Maybe should be a lot of conditions on this
No freeway driving, only one or no passenger, no night driving or no late night driving, one violation and done, etc.
