Tell that to all the people who bet on the game, smart guy. At 3 points Utah covers (wins), at 9 they don't.
What does that have to do with standings or winning the game smart guy? Were we talking about gambling, or winning the game?

Utah had covered the spread when the clock expired. Several hours later it was determined they had not covered the spread.
It absolutely does mean they can't win the division. On the front page of the PAC 12 official website right now there is a story talking about the division races. USC is not mentioned. Utah, ASU, and UCLA are who they talk about. And yet if you follow your link, and click on the link to the "complete standings" it takes you to a page that shows you first the conference records, and then the overall records. It also lists UCLA above Arizona State, and still has USC in the standings. Utah is still fourth. There is not a 4 by their name because I believe ESPN expects the people that frequent their site to be able to count.
So again, the Conference record trumps the overall record if you are talking about CONFERENCE STANDINGS!!! USC still counts, they have only been disallowed from playing post season games. It does not mean they cannot "win the division". You are so dense when you want to be.
We're talking about the outcome of the game. The final score is absolutely the outcome. This was a big deal to gamblers. What does that have to do with standings or winning the game smart guy? Were we talking about gambling, or winning the game?
Oh, did I say they changed the outcome of the game? You sure? Link? They changed the final score of the game hours after the game had ended? Yeah, okay. How does that change the outcome of the game again?
Oh, did I say they changed the outcome of the game? You sure? Link?
I said Utah lost on the last play.
Right, and that's why they are still alive in the division race with only 2 weeks left in a major injury plagued season. They lost when they joined the PAC-12. Their facade of success will slowly wither and you're homerism will with it. Either that or you'll go into full blown delusional spin mode if you haven't already.

I understand Spazz arguing about this, as he is the fan of a rival. You just come across as an ax-grinder, Hobo.
Besides, this conversation will be a lot more relevant after all the games have been played and the standings are final.

Just the facts.

Again, that is not true. If we're talking about what is going on on the field, them Utah has the second best overall record in the division. And if we're talking about standings, then USC doesn't count.Yeah, just the facts. The facts are that on the field, they're in 4th place and 8th overall in the entire conference. The only reason you see them as 3rd is due to USC's ban. However, again, this doesn't change what's going on on the field--that when it comes down to the games, they're in the bottom half of the conference. Once USC's ban is up Utah will be an afterthought at best.
A Ute fan, posting facts, in a Ute thread. If I'm an ax grinder, what's Salty?

Or we can go your way too and just talk about knowing who is going to win. In that case, we didn't know until after the final play. That's what I was talking about in the first place before your clock expiring = game determined posts.
So my original point stands, Utah lost that game on the final play, and won the BYU game long before the final play.
Again, that is not true. If we're talking about what is going on on the field, them Utah has the second best overall record in the division. And if we're talking about standings, then USC doesn't count.

34th, per Sagarin.Overall record in the division again.... shut up. How about division record in the division and overall record overall. If you are using the overall record you should use all Div 1 teams, then Utah is what 50th?

And I'm not the one saying to ignore the standings and just pay attention to what happens on the field, then using the division standings and ignoring the overall records.
