Utes 2011 Football Discussion

How about this, Saltster -- I'll bet you $25.00 that Utah loses 2 games next year. I'll go double or nothing that one of the games they lose will be BYU. I'm not picking the other team, so stfu and just agree.

I said I couldn't see them losing "more than 2 regular season games". So why would I bet they would lose even less than that?

If you're disagreeing, then you're claiming they will lose at least 3 games. And if we're betting, then you're telling me the games you want to bet on.

What I'm getting out of this is the haters aren't confident enough to predict any 3 of those games as losses. It's "cool" in the Ute hater circle to write me off as a homer. But when push comes to shove, none of them are confident that I am actually wrong.

On the contrary, I can look at BYU's crappy schedule next year, which is only half done at this point, and pick out 3 losses (assuming the half done schedule they showed on the news last night was correct).

I will even up my challenge to make it easier for you haters.

You pick 3 Utah losses, 1 has to be to BYU. If Utah wins at least 1 of those games, I win the bet.

I will also make a separate bet for the same amount where I pick 3 BYU losses, with 1 of them being to Utah. If BYU wins one of those games, you win the bet.

Alternatively, you can just pick any 3 Utah games and we can bet on those without the separate BYU bet.

Your move, haters.

I'm game.

Utah will lose the following:

Thurs., Oct. 4
USC at Utah

Sat., Nov. 10
Utah at Washington

Fri., Nov. 23
Utah at Colorado

And I think there's a better than average chance they lose to BYU. It won't shock me if Cal punks them at home as well.

Awesome! A hater finally mans up!

How much are we betting?

Please don't be that much of a homer. Only a BYU fan would call their chances "better than average" in that game. That means that BYU should be favored on the road, which won't be happening.

Salty, why are you running from bordy's bet? (post #1212) Can't you pick 10 games that the Utes will win?

I'm assuming this means you will be adding your 10 win prediction to the list. Didn't Scat say $50 per wrong pick.

I'm not running from anything. I made my offer, and even added another offer where I would pick 3 BYU losses too.

I stated that I don't think Utah loses more than 2 games. If you disagree, tell me what games and we can bet. Otherwise, keep it moving.

I'm assuming you don't have the sack to take either of my 2 offers? Just sit back and call me a homer but when push comes to shove you can't really disagree with my prediction with any confidence?

Just to be clear, these are the games that I am choosing but Utah simply needs to lose more than 3 games, correct? No way I'm paying out if Utah loses three games just because I didn't pick the exact 3 games. Your argument was that Utah wouldn't lose any more than two games.

I don't bet money. I learned a long time ago that it's just too easy to lose money and I don't have the extra to part with right now. Tell you what, I'll change my user name to "Salty's Bitch" for a month if Utah only loses 2 games. If they lose 3 or more you simply have to end every post for a month with, "I was wrong" and make NO mention of bad reffing, injuries or any of the other such nonsense that you always throw out when you are wrong.

According to you, average would be what Las Vegas odd maker's set the line at, correct? In a rivalry game anything can happen which ups the chances that BYU wins making it a better than average chance. That said, Colorado wasn't favored on the road either but they handed Utah their asses last year. Besides, you're the one that doesn't want to play BYU anymore because rivalry games can bite you in the ***, remember?

No, you have to name the teams. I said Utah won't lose more than 2 games. If I'm such a homer for saying that, then you must have a pretty good idea of 3 games Utah will lose. Name them (which you did) and we can bet.

I'm okay with betting you for name change, sig, or whatever. We can do that instead of money. And if you aren't comfortable naming the games Utah will lose, then we can go "double or nothing" on the BYU schedule with me picking 3 games BYU will lose. You have to pick BYU as one of the games that Utah will lose though, and I'll pick Utah as one of the games BYU will lose. You may think this gives me an advantage but BYU has a much crappier schedule than Utah. So me picking the same number of losses as you puts me at a disadvantage. And you think BYU has a pretty good chance of winning the game anyway, so no skin of your nose, right?

I should neg rep you for trying to get me in trouble! $50 a wrong pick... sheesh!

It would have worked out great for you, you have a possible $150 to pay if they go undefeated (yea right), and he could owe you up to $500 if they don't win a game. That's pretty good odds you will be earning some cash.

Of course I'm staying out of it, mainly I'm just laughing at Salty because Bordy makes him an offer, and he says basically "oh yea, I'll take it, but instead of doing it your way, do it my way". That is basically saying, no I will not take your offer.

By the way, I'm glad the U had a decent showing in their first year in the Pac 12. It shows that all the BCS team superiority garbage was just that, garbage.

Oh, Salty I can't take your offers based on my principles. You have cropped ears, and I will not be forced into this at the "point" of a weapon.

LOL Typical. If I have to pick the exact 3 games Utah loses YOU need to pick the exact 10 games they will win. You must have a pretty good idea of 2 games Utah will lose. Name them (which you haven't) and we can bet.

And forget BYU. I picked 3 games before even mentioning BYU. This is all about YOU making predictions about Utah and several of us saying you're wrong.

Not quite. I made the offer, and he basically told me no. You got it backwards.

By the way, I'm glad the U had a decent showing in their first year in the Pac 12. It shows that all the BCS team superiority garbage was just that, garbage.
We didn't need this season to tell us that. Of course, now that all the best non AQ teams joined BCS conferences, I think the BCS actually is on a higher level now.

So you want to just poke fun at my prediction without actually going on the record as to why it's wrong (or at least risking any consequences if I turn out to be right in the end). Got it.

Like I said, I'm more than willing to do the same for BYU, even though they play a much crappier schedule and it is only half complete at this point.

I love it.

Haters: Utah is the Colorado State of the Pac 12.
Salty: Utah won't lose more than 2 games next season.
Haters: Clearly, Salty is a homer, etc.
Salty: Bet. Show me where I'm wrong.
Haters: Um, well, lets not do that.

Just remember this when everyone wants to call me a homer next season. It's not so much I'm a homer, just there are a lot of haters on the board. Money talks.

Also, for the record, SalmonHobo (or whatever he calls himself these days) is probably the only Ute hater smart enough to actually win this bet. However, he's probably smart enough not to take it.

I ignored most of the junk in your post, but this one part caught my attention.
One quick question, who is coming to Utah that is projected to be better than White?
Just curious. Curious.

's. Kevin York, 4 star JC RB. Langi will be in his second year. The RB position will be more than one deep.
