Walter Clayton Jr. Hype Thread

I think the takeaway here is Key makes and Collier mucks up the offense. The WCJ+Key minutes are also non-Collier minutes.

That matches the eye test. He has to have the ball because not having it would make him a guaranteed negative, and he is slower in initiating and isnt doing enough correct decissions. I think his court vision <<< Key's.
This.
Whenever key and collier are on court together I hate watching key barely touch the ball.
On the other hand #tanknote

I will start to worry if it creeps into next season.
To be honest I'm not even worried.
If he doesn't pan out, that's ok. He was an older pick that wasn't taken in the lottery.
Those dudes bust all the time.
Having keyonte and Ace pan out and hopefully a high pick this year too with Lauri and Kessler is enough for me to feel really good about the future of the team.

I never expected WCJ to be very good and thought we shouldn't have traded up for him in the first place

WCj is not a player to worry about. We have so many developing players and most don’t make it as it is.

I honestly just didn’t understand taking him (including the trade up) to begin with. Hoping for the best but most players don’t pan out.

I kind of feel the same way. Nothing lives or dies on Clayton being good like I felt with Ace. I felt like Ace had to be at least solid after getting nothing from Cody and Hemdricks over the last few years. The future brightens up quickly though when Ace looks like he will be a solid starter at worst and suddenly Cody is flashing some solid role player potential. If Taylor starts to show something this last half of the season as well then damn we suddenly have some real depth pieces on the wings.

For the record, I'm not worried, per se. It's just that if you told me to start the year that by midway through the season Ace would be 100x less the blackhole he looked like in college and Walt would be 50x less the shooter he was projected to be..... I'd have been pretty shocked. Not worried, but the WTF Meter is elevated.

True dat

Clayton is nothing special but he has no major holes and is always confident. WCJ also has one giant advantage over Collier: the 30% difference in the FT%. You simply can't have Collier on the court in the crunch times of games that matter when he is shooting 65%. You MUST replace him with Clayton and his 95%.

And that FT% has actually went down since Collier's rookie season.
