What's new

Warriors @ Jazz Sat. 3/17 7pm (mt) GAME THREAD

That was by far the best game we've seen from Favors so far. Where did the free throw shooting come from!?!? 9-9 are you kidding me!? Awesome.

Favors or Dwight Howard?

Serious question. Favors is showing he can be an elite defender and I believe he has more offensive potential than Dwight. Of course, Superman is a legit 5 and Derrick will be a Power 4.

Then he'll have a struggle game, and ppl will say he still needs a lot more time...He had an awesome game, but lets remember that CJ dropped 40 on Minny and still sucks...

Had we played the rest of the game with half the energy and aggressiveness we played OT, we would have won the game in regulation by 30.

Why does this team seem to jackpot and snore its way through so many quarters? So many lapses?

It was nice to see some strong play out of Favors, Hayward, and Burks. Favors is clearly ready to take over Jefferson's spot. Why not package Jefferson up for a high(er)/more draft picks this upcoming draft? Maybe get that big time shooter we need? Or scorer? Favors may not have all the weezies but he's light years ahead of anything we've had down low defensively since early 90s Karl Malone/Mark Eaton.

anyway, anyone that thinks that we should have taken Klay Thompson needs to have their eyes examined. He looked worthless on defense and pretty damn clumsy on offense. I think Burks is going to be better. He can drive, shoot, slash, pass, and score in a variety of ways. Not to mention, PLAY DEFENSE.
I'm just excited to see us closing games, if only it could happen on the road more often.

Totally agree on Burks, he has an incredible knack for coming up with loose balls and rebounds when you least expect it.

Burks will be better but Thompson will find his niche. Already has the makings of an elite shooter.

Thompson will have a career because he is a top shelf shooter.

But once the word gets out on this kid, he'll find a hard time putting up big numbers - I don't think he has much of a game other than as a spot up shooter.

Burks was clearly pressing tonight - trying to make a point after being passed over in the draft for Thompson.

Klay had some good games previously but definitely was off tonight. I'm still really liking the Burks pick, though. We have ourselves a young Corey Maggette. And a young Manu in Hayward, a young Ben Wallace with Kanter and a young Dwight Howard with Favors. This is what I was so excited about before the season, before Ty decided to play the inferior vets so much. Jazz could be a very dangerous team next year if O'Connor can add another wing and a PG.

Hayward's run down block followed by coast to coast dunk. 4 pt swing. Wow

Favors. Triple wow

Jazz are fun to watch with the youngsters closing.

Obviously, the opposite (losing close games at home) would be worse...

But didn't anyone else feel like we were playing down to the level of our competition tonight for most of the game?

Only in OT did it feel like we finally said, "Ok, enough is enough. Time to put the foot on the gas." And we got dunks, wide open looks, and forced GS to chuck up some real ugly shots.

Again, I repeat, if we had played just with HALF the energy and aggressiveness in the first 4 quarters that we did in OT, this game wouldn't have even been close!

It just seemed to me that when our guys wanted to score, they easily could. When they wanted to stop GS, they could. It felt like we were toying with GS just because we knew how bad they sucked....

I just wish this team would play balls out more often. Instead of the pansie *** stand around as Nate Robinson makes us look like idiots brick jumper after jumper and then watch Josh Howard chuck up another ill-advised shot....

I remember all I heard leading up to the draft was Burks can't shoot and that he had no interest in playing defense. He' does need to improve his shot, but it's not broken or anything, and he might be the best defensive wing we have.

That series by Hayward was nasty. I don't even know how he dunked that ball, it looked like he barely got any elevation on the dunk and the ball barely got over the rim.

Exactly.

Klay might be the better shooter, I'm not sure. He seemed to brick everything tonight.

But Burks does everything else better. Can drive, dribble, score, shoot, slash, rebound, defend, and is a lot better athlete out there.

He seems to score without any plays being run for him. Klay? I'm not sure if he can score without having a series of picks to try and free him up.

I would have taken Burks over Kanter before the draft.

But most of that was just hating on a prospect that had such limited court time. I like him now.

Anybody not excited about the Laker game should turn in their card.

Oh, yeah! The refs will probably give Favors 2 fouls in the first 3 minutes, but it will be well worth my time to watch Fisher standing on the Lakers sideline in a Jersey he got off the clearance rack at the stadium trying to check himself into the game and being told he isn't eligible.
