We need to legalize marijuana. Situation in Millcreek

I don't advocate banning them, but I think people should acknowledge that this stuff is basically heroin. So many people suffer a sports injury or have an operation and are given enough of a supply to start them down the road to a serious addiction.

I recently cleaned out and disposed of my father pain killers. He had Morphine, Oxycodone, Loratab, IB 800s and about 800 other meds. I could have funded my own cartel. He had probably 5k worth of meds sitting on his kitchen counter.

I still don't think any other drugs like coke and meth should be legal. Those are very dangerous to society
I think they should all be legal. If they harm society, then make whatever harms society illegal (stealing, etc). But if you want to shoot heroin in your basement until you're a brain dead zombie, knock yourself out (assuming you're an adult).

It's not like it's all that much worse for you than alcohol anyway.

I take pain pills and cannabis daily to treat my Rheumatoid Arthritis. It's true doctors can give the stuff too easily, and patients are not prepared for what occurs when their pain ends and they have to give up the meds. When pain is present though there is a low risk of abuse. I am constantly trying to lower the amount of medications I take, every day. With the cannabis, there are things to be concerned with. I agree kids shouldn't do it, and it can sap ambition etc. For me it's an effective treatment for the swelling and pain of my RA.

What I don't understand though is why people here get so hopping mad about it. For those that don't have a horse in the race why so fired up? I know this is a debate forum, and members here love to argue, but I just don't get why it's so emotionally charged. IE smoke a doob and chill broheim. (kidding)

Arguable on both points. But I will go with "If you can find a way to lock yourself away from the general public, GO HOG WILD".

If we cut military spending, and legalize Marijuanna(but tax the **** out of it), we'll have enough money to develop farming communities to solve a large part of world hunger, balance the budget AND triple NASA's budget.

I don't know if I would agree that a fermented beverage made from plants and water does the same amount of harm to your body as drugs made from man-made toxins.
Of course this would always depend on the intake, as in any substance, including water.

Agreed on drugs being legal.
For one thing, people are going to do them whether they're legal or not.
And for another, it's hypocritical to have legal psychotropic drugs available through prescription, but you can't smoke an organic plant?

Nutmeg anyone?

Then why have any laws? I mean people commit murder even though it is illegal. I mean just allow everything and let some of the weaker people get weeded out. Then call it a day.

I have seen first hand what pain killers do to people. Let me tell you, it isn't good. They destroy lives. That's no joke. It's a much bigger problem than people realize.

I refuse to take them for anything, after seeing what they do. I know that some people really are in pain, but I suggest they find some alternative. Your life hangs in the balance. Its only a matter of time before they destroy your brain chemistry

To me that is as senseless as going overboard on them. They have their time and place.

Which is very rarely. Obviously if you have been through something very traumatic, and you have a lot of painful injuries, then yes. But only for a limited time. Until you can withstand some of the pain. Not until the pain is gone. Or if you have an injury like a sprained ankle or knee, then no. People just need to be stronger and tuff some of it out. People these days will make up any excuse for them. They will take them for any injury. I got a tooth pulled this year, and they tried to give me some. I said hell no. My jaw hurt for a few days, but it was worth it, not taking a chance on those things. Pain pills are really that dangerous, that they should only be considered as a last resort.

I agree that they are to freely given. I had my knee worked on and they gave me 30 loratabs. I needed less than 5.

My mom was "in pain" for 20 years or so. It was like her little pet. Funny thing, the pain started shortly after her second in-patient rehab for alcoholism. Once she had a steady supply of pain medicine she never started drinking again. Not in a problem way, anyhow.

Not directed at you sqareincircle. I guess I'm just venting.

My sister has lost everything due to pain pills. All four of her kids gone! She literally lost her mind. No one recognizes her . She sits in jail where she is better off, even though they keep her on methadone.

My uncle died from pain pill use. He was prescribed them for a shoulder injury. He died from an over dose heat attack. He was 50.

My neighbor shot herself in the face with a shotgun after her house was raided for writing fake prescriptions. She was 36.

My best friends wife got hooked on pills then heroin. During one of her binges, my friends daughter lost an eye because that women was all cracked out on pills and heroin. She wasn't watching her as she played with a knife in the kitchen. They are now divorced.

And I know even more countless stories of friends and neighbors who have battled this. It always starts the same way. Pills, then they move to the harder stuff.

You do realize (if you're a God fearing man), that God actually put substances on earth that relive pain better and safer than any pain killer?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-19622016

Funny how doctors are saying people are taking too many pain killers, when they're the ones prescribing them.
Then they're also causing headaches.

Interesting! Now you can move on to the next drug for the headache, and the next drug for the side effects of that drug, and...... well you get it.

Debatable. I like reading your posts but you have like the 10 same responses. Not everything needs to be turned to your pet topic

You are like that family member that turns everything into a religious discussion.

That doesn't make sense.

Pot reduces the swelling of RA? Or the pain meds would accomplish that without pot?

Sure, if that's the way you see it.

How many other responses does a person need to see things that, (in my mind) are just common sense.
It does tend to become my 'pet topic' because everyone around these parts continues to dismiss it.
So yeah.... I guess I do interject it often.

But I also interject things that nobody else will talk about around here.
Gotta love those taboo American subjects.

Not wanting to engage in a debate about food labeling does not make it taboo. It just makes it boring as ****.
