Quit peeing in the punch bowl. Hill IS the difference. He is killing it. He doesn't have to score 22 per night for him to have a consistent positive effect for the team. Notice Hayward's stats with him in and out. Notice the team's stats with him on vs off the court. Notice our record with him on/off the court.
Can someone bring a new punch bowl?
It does seem like there's a decreasing amount of tests for this Jazz squad to pass (other than Medical tests ><)... Certainly it's that way for Rudy..
There's always a chance of regression but I can;t help but think that the only real remaining tests/measuring stick games left for this team in the regular season are vs teams like the Warriors, Cavs and to a lesser extent the Clippers, Raptors and Spurs..

Here's an updated look at the NBA landscape. The @warriors have pulled away from pack while the @utahjazz have emerged as a team to watch.
I'm an optimist, but I still disagree. The NBA is a league where you have to pass tests multiple times before believers reach critical mass. The Spurs and the Clippers will remain serious tests for two or more years (or as long as their current cores are intact). And, of course, the Warriors are the biggest obstacle in our window.
The next four games will hopefully do something to push us northeast a little bit more too.
I think these last 4 games show what the ceiling may be for this team. They play like this and they can beat anybody. Not saying they would beat the top 4 teams, but they could. And when Favs and Burks come back and play well?![]()

I really like that chart. Easy to read and understand.
Fixed
Bad opponents usually means inconsistent effort. That's at least my observation from the last decades.
I like though that we're arguably the 3rd best team currently if that graphic is/was accurate
I don't disagree with this post but I feel like that's the case with your typically more immature teams. While we have been one of the younger teams in the league the last few years, I think our guys and their struggles have helped make them better players and hungrier. I also think the addition of vets like Hill and Johnson should cut down on that, maybe even drastically.
And where are we on that chart as a full strength team? Amazing we place on that chart where we do based on our record. How many games have we had just Hay and Hill together, not to mention Favs and Hood and Burks.
Lyles has improved a bunch defensively these last from games too from what I have seen.It is nice to see Hood playing good defense this season, I think that is his biggest improvement this year. He has been solid so far this year at defense. Hayward is top 5 SF defensively. Gobert is #1 center defensively. Hill is top 5 defensively at PG and Favors is top 5 defensively at PF. If we can get Favors back, Hood back and Exum can start playing solid defense again we should be the best defensive team in the league. Crazy we are playing this good of defense with Lyles and Diaw at PF.
I also like that Portland is at the bottom of the defense. I thought they reached last year and they have the worst back court defensively in the league. As good on offense as Lillard is he is that bad on defense and I think CJ might be worse on defense.
This ****ing post.In the 5 games with Hayward and Hill I heard on the radio today we would be #1 offense and #1 defense in the league in efficiency. That would put us above GS and to the right of Atlanta on that chart. Its a pretty small sample but we played a few decent teams during those 5 games and we were not even full strength in those games.
This ****ing post.
The small sample size is--to some extent--negated by the fact that we were without our starting PF and 6th man during that stretch. When they both return, hopefully those league leading stats--or something close to them--can be sustained for the long run.
I can't wait to see this team at full strength.
