What weaknesses do the Jazz have?

we have to get rid of watson, sign millsap to an extension and try to trade jefferson for a stretch four (that can shoot the ball from three point line as well) and who can play the three, too.

Playing Millsap 28 minutes, Marvin and Hayward and Favors 26 apiece, but then Mo and Fat Al 30 makes no sense and isn't happening.

at some point both need to be gone. Don't care when but at some point in the next 1 to 3 years Kanter needs a chance to take the job.

Both? I hope not. You need more than 2 bigs...as you mentioned in your second post I hope Millsap embraces the 6th man role and stays on Utah his entire career.
 
If they were going to add or trade for a player, I would hope that they would look at a center or a stretch 4. If Memo has any game left, I would take him on a veteran minimum deal.

Memphis had a similar problem back in 2003-04. They had one great player (Pau), but he wasn't looked upon as a "franchise" player. They rode that roster to a 52-30 record (and 45-37 the following season). While I agree it would serve the Jazz well to get a "superstar," I have yet to hear of a way that one can be obtained. Superstars on the move FORCE trades or choose their destinations via free agency. I have yet to hear any star tell his team to "trade me to Utah" or "the Jazz are on my short list."

And if we can't get one, we sure as hell ain't getting multiple stars to form our own "Big-3" model. The ONLY way Utah has a shot at contending is to become the Detroit Pistons of 2004: Rip, Billups, Rasheed, Ben Wallace, Prince with subs Okur, Williamson, Atkins and Mike James. That's a deep 9 but no one I'd consider a "superstar" - perhaps Rip is the closest. Will that kind of model overcome the Heat, Spurs, Lakers or Thunder. I don't know.

Jazz depth is certainly there. And the starting five isn't that far off if Favors and Hayward can step up their games a notch. KOC has a chance to add 1-2 more pieces to the existing core via the draft (two likely first rounders - package and move up?) and some salary space to get a very good FA. I think our best shot will be in 2-3 years. Nash will be gone and Kobe on the decline. Duncan, Manu and Parker will all be receiving AARP benefits, and DWade, Lebron and Bosh will all be up for contract renewals. OKC will stll be a force...if they can keep everyone together. It will be an interesting time once the new luxury tax rules go into effect.
 
I'm not sure we have any glaring holes in the lineup other than just a general lack of experience. It's time for our young first round draft picks to step up and become the players we all hope they can be. I'm also hoping for some more solid coaching this year.

Uhh, Millsap and Jefferson have great midrange games.

The weakness is lack of stars.
 
we are an average or slightly an above average team, that's my concern. we need a real leader (maybe it's going to be mo will) and we are stuck with role players... no real stars and leaders, imo. but one of the best young talents in the league and arguably the best and deepest bench in the league. one of the teams with the most potential in the nba.

1. I wouldn't call 36-30 average.
2. If you look at the replacements, I think you'll agree Marvin > Howard, Foye > Raja and Mo Willams is at least = Harris (although I think he's > Harris).
3. With a young team, everyone should be at least as good as last season. And some should be much better. The only chance of decline is with Watson and Tinsley. And if that happens, no big deal; Foye or Burks steps in.

Barring major injuries, I guarantee you the Jazz will win at least 45 games next season. Personally, I think it's going to be around 50.
