Now that the log jam is gone and we have enough playing time for Jefferson, Millsap, Favors and Kanter. What should the next priority be. Or what do we worry about more?

Bell being on the team and stopping the development of Burks & Hayward?

or

Harris being our starting point guard?

It's the coach playing Bell. I mean Bell is fine on this team and If he complains about the minutes then reach a buyout with him.

Bell. By a landslide. Harris is an actually good NBA player. Bell is an actually awful NBA player. Is this a trick question?

It's Harris for the simple reason that his contract is between 2 to 3 times larger than Bells. The Jazz seem to have this thing for getting value out of their money, so if a player is getting paid, he gets played. Since Harris is Ronnie Price with a -little- more court vision, this worries me a lot. He can be good in certain situations, but it remains to be seen if this is one of them.

Is this a joke?

I'm quickly becoming a Harris hater. The other night in preseason it looked like both Tinsley and Watson were more effective on the floor. I think we're stuck with him and it's not a good thing. I think I'd rather just move him for a TPE and a late 1st and start Tinsley.

Yeah, I went there.

This. It's debatable whether Harris will actually help us win basketball games, but at least his presence on the floor isn't stunting the progress of the young guys in the same way.

No one rings the bell because Bell does JACK SQUAT for the team. I know someone will ask for a cheese vote eventually.

It has to be Harris. I already know what I am going to get out of Bell. In comparison to Bell, Harris is someone the Jazz really need to do well. If he turns out to be a bumb, which I believe is highly unlikely, this team will really struggle.

Neither worry me and it is the wrong focus. Our season will not be good or bad based upon either of these guys. It will be determined buy the young uns. If Bell is getting a lot of time, it is simply because he is playing well or the young guys are not performing when they need to. The fixation on Bell that is on this board is missing the whole point.

Everything I've seen seems to indicate The Jazz are committed to giving Harris at least one full season to run the point. If it doesn't work out, next year his contract is expiring and he becomes another movable piece. I really have no problem with this arrangement.

Harris is good how? Great outside shooter?
Nope, that's not it.

Great court vision, really facilitates his teammates for open shots?
Hmm, not really.

Plays awesome D? Shuts his man down!
Well, can't say as I've really seen that out of him.

Maybe it's his incredible will to compete and win, ala Ronnie Price.
Wait, no, not so much.

He's fast. Yeah, that's it. But wait, aren't a lot of guys out there fast? And don't you need more out of your STARTING POINT GUARD than fast?

Harris sucks. All I hear from those describing him was that he used to be an Allstar. Big friggin whoop. I'd rather have Hayward at the point so we could at least have 5 good basketball players on the court at the same time.

I have to go Harris. Even under Ty the offense still runs through the point, not as much as under Sloan, but still enough that a pg who doesn't run the offense will kill us as a team.

Bell although he might take minutes away from burks this year what he is teaching him in practice will be more then spot minutes on the floor during games will teach. Say what you will about bell he has done a lot a little talent through hard work and aggressiveness.

It's Bell by a huge margin.

My qualms with Harris have always related to his fit on this team. I just don't think we're set up to use him right; his age makes him an outsider in the youth movement; etc. Bell, on the other hand, doesn't do anything particularly well.

harris,

burks and hayward's progress won't be hampered if they themselves show progress, its within their control, not bell's

Harris.

Bell hasn't been expected to do much for a while now. He can and will be buried on the bench.

Harris? He has looked like crap....

Look at Harris's most productive years. He was always paired with at least one established playmaker. Hayward and Burks can become those players, but they aren't the rocks that Harris needs to thrive. Imagine, however, if we were to bring in Hinrich -- a player that knows his game, stretches the floor, and can distribute/create a little off of Harris's drive and kick. If we are ALWAYS able to pair Harris with a Hinrich, or Watson (with Harris playing more of a combo 2), and/or Hayward, then, IMO, he'll get a lot more comfortable and effective.

It's Bell. Harris has more in the tank.

The answer to this is Bell.

Bell should not play at all over Hayward, Miles or Burks at this point. But he is going to. Therefore his presence on the team is far more troubling than Harris'. With Harris you get a below average starting PG on a team without a young guy competing with him for minutes. Since I don't see this team as ready for a championship the development of the young guys is far more important than impact on the games this season. Harris will prove he belongs or he will be moved. Bell is worthless and is in a position to take time away from already better players just because of his tenure in the league.
