What would you trade for Serge Ibaka?

Don't want him. Why would we give anything of any value for a half year rental? I wouldn't even give Lyles straight up.
 
Any trade for him would have to be a secondary trade chip coming our way if we are giveing favors or anything of value.

The Magic aren't going to give us anything of value unfortunately.. although they were stupid enough to trade for him in the first place, so who knows.
 
It all depends on how the medical staff feels about Favors.

I really dont want to give up on him. If the doctors believe he will return to being a solid force for us then no trade.

While I agree in theory, do you really think the Jazz medical staff is qualified to make such an assessment? Seriously.

I have very little hope that Favors ever gets back to full strength. At least on this team. Kind of ****ing sick of worrying about it, honestly.
 
The only reasons to make a trade for Ibaka are to try it out, hope it goes well for both parties so he wants to stay, and if the Jazz don't have the cap space to sign him outright in the summer (I'm way behind on how all of that looks these days). I could see his struggles being due to still being shell-shocked about the trade, being on a lame/weird team, and the whole thing just being tainted. Being in a new, winning situation and winning culture could do wonders.

But for the record, there is insane potential in having Gobert and Ibaka on the same team. INSANE.
 
Another thing to consider given the logjam of bigs, his disappointing play, and his UFA status is he might be had for cheap. Especially considering the rising value of picks.

In other words, maybe you just keep Favors, and you make both players insurance for the other.
 
The hate has gone too far on serge he'd be a significant upgrade at the PF spot for us right now. I understand he's a rental... but this year matters too... just like future years matter. Wouldn't give up too much but with the Favors injury it would make sense to look for some different solutions.

Why? Better chance to win a playoff series. Better chance to keep Gordon "all I care about is winning" Hayward? I see the logic, but there may be a short-term versus long-term tradeoff. I kinda like a deal for Ilyasova, as Sixers likely to want to lose a bit to draft a top tier PG.
