I don't think Sexton and VJ are very similar. Sexton is very shifty and quick. VJ is a better overall athlete, but does not have the same agility on the ground or body control in the air. Sexton's handle is also terrific which adds to his ability to touch the paint at will. But VJ is a much smarter player and makes the winning plays. Sexton is kind of a prime example of a player who produces but you question his winning value. Edgecombe is the opposite. There exists a world where Edgecombe averages like 12 PPG in 30 minutes a game and is still a contributor. If that's all Sexton could score, he'd be out of the league.

The closest player to Sexton in this draft is Fears imo.

Bit of an aside not related to the draft. This touches on an idea that I have been thinking of for quite awhile. Sexton produces at quite the high level: 48% FG, 40% 3FG, 86% FT. He is consistent with his production and is probably only 2nd in efficiency to Collins this year. Yet, there is this sense that he is only a 6th man equivalent to Clarkson. I have heard the sentiment that Keyonte should be starting in the 2 spot and Sexton should come off the bench.

Looking at Sexton's game, I would call it the least aesthetic style I have ever seen. Watching guys like Kyrie, Trae, Garland, Hali, they play much more smooth and natural; Making the game almost look too easy sometimes. Compare that to Sexton's style which is the opposite. It feels like he holds onto the ball too long, he floats to weird spots on the court, the dribble looks too hard and almost out of control, He drives into crazy situations and challenges guys much bigger than him. There was an article that describes it thusly, Collin Sexton plays offense like Pat Beverly plays defense. When I watched him coming out as a rookie, I thought that he had incredibly low feel for the game of basketball. But, here we sit, Sexton is a really good player and I still wouldn't say his feel is all that great.

Yet he produces at a level that's only a step down from all star guards. This begs the question, Are we seeing something deficient in Sexton that isn't captured in the raw data/boxscore? Or are we letting the aesthetics of basketball influence how we look at Sexton's game. In other words, are we letting how unsmooth Sexton's game looks influence how we evaluate his effectiveness?

These are just random thoughts I had as I have watched Sexton and much of this might be offbase but I find Sexton to be a fascinating player. If he was given the 1A role on a team for a full season, would he be better or worse than say a Fox? And should we really be trying to trade him?
