The guy who went up against him the most, who wanted his starting job, the guy with the chip on his shoulder got burned by BOOZER last night...
I'm not blaming Paul for the 3 because it was a broken play but his defense is not good, Gibson blew by him a few times too last night.
An honest question (Al vs Paul):
If Al Jefferson was our 2nd round pick, instead of acquiring him for Koufos, '10 #23 (Trevor Booker), & '12 #18 (Terrance Jones) or if he was making $8.3M this year (vs $15M), would we be killing him as much as most fans are?
From what I read, watch, & hear, Al has been an awesome teammate & great player. He helped crack Enes' shell open. He has worked with our young bigs with their limited offensive game. He's gotten in better shape each & every year he's been here. He's shown more passion on the court on the defensive end. He understands that the team's offensive flows much better with ball-movement. He's been our most consistent player throughout his tenure. He's doesn't have any off-the-court issues. So why do we HATE him?
Byron Russell was my favorite player during our runs because he was that 2nd round pick who did the small things. Matthews was also a favorite too because of the same reasons, as well as Millsap...
Paul epitomizes what Coach Sloan preached. He was the grit & energy of this team, especially when he was coming off the bench. Now I don't want to trade him just to trade him but I just don't see us going deep with him as a starter. I would love to keep Paul around but as our 3rd big. I watch some of Denver's game & I miss seeing jumping up fighting for boards like Faried. That said, I just don't see him willingly take that role I envision for him (3rd big). I'm probably 100% wrong, as the sabermetrics say he's great & well above average.
I just don't see this team winning this year. I feel this team will be very good in a year (West 5-7th) & hopefully fearful (West Top 4) in 2-3 years. So I ask myself, who will be more valuable to this team in those years & I ultimately think of Jefferson.
Why is this board so biased & pro-Millsap but kill Jefferson?? Nobody kills him when he dribbles up the court & tries to take it one-on-one off the dribble, in the beginning of the shot-clock but we kill Al for keeping the ball for 4 seconds, as nobody else cuts or moves. How many times does Al get the ball with 3 seconds on the s/c & have to bail the offense out (albeit miss)? I like Paul but not as my starting PF.
